The MK2 forged full ambidextrous lower receivers are machined from a custom 7075-T6 forging. The lowers come with the 3 proprietary controls installed. The video shows a std magazine release that is not present in the lower receiver. That component is expected to be present in the end users LPK used to complete the lower.

You know... it would be really cool if you had an option to laser engrave our Form 1 information on the right side - or under the trigger guard - before they shipped.
Even better if it could be before they're finished, but that's just asking for a logistical nightmare.  |

This answer pertains to the original ADM rifle: ADM said they were interested in rifles, and we signed a perpetual non severable royalty agreement with them, that they in ten years never made a payment on, so that default makes the designs non transferred IP due to a non executed agreement. They designed none of the rifle components that originally launched the rifle families. I designed all of their "non optic mount" / rifle products- which took a few thousand hours of engineering work. ADM manufactured our designs, and made slight cosmetic alterations to rifle parts, and probably much fewer minor dimensional changes to our rifle part designs at some point. The utility, concept, and design of the products is 100% our original work. Our marketing department worked to design their first brand logo. We filmed their initial product launch videos, we did most of the initial component sourcing for parts that were not manufactured in house, we performed the pre-production testing, etc. With regard to our MK2 rifle: ADM played no role in design or manufacturing our rifle, and this lower. |

We also have a 9mm version developed, on the Colt 9mm pattern magazine, but there are required parts being manufactured that won't be around for several months to make that available. I talked to someone about a factory SBR lower, and it was shot down. It is all work and no profit, and it raises the cost of the lower. We will sell factory SBR rifles though. |

I definitely like the design of this, particularly this style of ambi bolt catch/release.
Another thing I also like, is the utilization of a standard mil-spec magazine release. Many ambi lowers seem to use proprietary setups, which for those of unfortunate enough to live in CA or travel there to shoot, severely limits your mag lock device options, should you choose to go that route. With how this is designed, it appears options such as the MagLatch or ARmaglock + kingpin could work in the receiver and function normally. Have you guys messed around with anything like that in your testing? I'm in the middle of moving out of CA, but if I was staying, having a nice ambi receiver compatible with my mag lock systems would be a huge upgrade. |

FDE / DDC is nice.
I would like to see the occasional run of FDE this's and that's now & again. There's only one detail you have to become one with. Every bit of FDE is nice. Every bit of FDE is great. Every bit of FDE is its own special shade. Sig, FN, Geiselle, and probably every manufacturer that doesn't paint it on has come to terms with this. Matchy-Match is just not possible. Some of us lean into that fact and enjoy the contrasts. Others just put a few FDE/DDC parts on and call it a day. (See URGI) .... placeholder for pic of my peanutbutter monstrosity .... |

@Green0 are there any close up pics available which show the fencing under the left side mag release and if that fencing sits proud over the paddle? And a view from the right side of the paddle?
I'm looking for a couple new lowers and would love to standardize on the MK2, but have some minor PTSD from having an (unnamed) ambi mag release continually snagging on my chest rig during a class and causing mags to inadvertently drop. So one of the non negotiable features I'm looking for on whatever I wind up choosing is to have the left side mag release have a good fence around it. This is the only checkbox left to tick on the MK2. If these will meet my requirements I plan on registering as a first responder on your website and snagging a couple new lowers. Thanks! |

Thanks! @clangclang The fence is pretty close to flush to the fence at the extreme corner when the mag lets go, but there is probably room for a little improvement of this behavior you are talking about. We are going to look at it and possibly move the pin hole to get a more depressed attitude at that point of actuation. There is more room to actuate the part at that position, so we should be able to move this engagement point somewhat. The pin hole is through from the top, so the part can be replaced. The drill for that is like 18x's Diameter. It's kind of a crazy operation.

No but we took a little feedback from a Nato SF solicitation and moved the lower outside Mil-spec in one dimension, in the direction of making it tight as it comes. It fit like an FN collector series prior - which IMO is pretty good, but .003" on the top plane eats more than 50% of the remaining tolerance and it fits tighter at the expense of some overlap of the upper and lower tolerance ranges (where we don't believe any modern manufacturer is making an upper). We also moved to low limit on the distance between the lugs at the takedown and pivot pin interfaces of the lower. The current inventory is fit like an FN collector series lower. AKA a quality part. If you use our stripped uppers, that creates a pretty decent fit, but it's not to where you need to beat your pins in to put the upper on the lower. |

I know a guy who has been wanting to do an AR build but is both wrong handed (left) and has hand/wrist injuries. Perhaps this might be a good starting point for a build as he could use whichever hand is bothering him less that day. I will have to show him. Cool stuff!

No they do not. We also have a roll pin for the three provided controls components, because they work and are easier to remove than tiny allen screws that strip the hex sockets and can result in a destroyed lower.
They are basically mil spec, but with a pistol grip screw that is tapped through for people wanting to use a 1/4-28 set screw for removing pre-travel. |

I have a question. I am putting together a 16" All purpose rifle with the GA MK2 Lower Receiver as the foundation. Does the MK1 upper receiver offer a tight fit with the MK2 lower? Are you planning on releasing a MK2 Upper Receiver? Thanks.

They fit like FN collector series M16-A4 receivers, which I personally really liked, because there was no fight to push pins, and the FN fit felt like a quality fit to me. I have run into guns where beating the pins in and out requires a pair of tools and that feels not right to me. During T&E for a European NATO partner’s solicitation, feedback came back that they would prefer tighter fit. So we moved a couple dimensions to make them fit 66% tighter. One of those dimensions, actually violates the TDP, and becomes .0015 interference fit with some uppers that would comply with the TDP. That dimension is the the top plane of the lower in distance from the center of the front pivot pin. The reality is the tdp for the upper is a broad range that I don’t believe modern manufacturing uses all of, so I don’t expect that to be an issue. We have no current plans for a mk2 upper currently, although given enough time, and some valid reasons, there may be a better justification to visit something like that. |

Will these lowers work with uppers like the Vltor MUR, Sig MCX, PSA JAKL, etc? I know that ADM sells a replacement mil spec sized bolt catch for their lowers but was curious if the Griffin lower would be compatible with said uppers without modification.

Our dimensions are mil-spec inside the receiver, with exception of the pin on the right side that communicates with the right side lever, but the paddle on ours is wedge shaped on the side profile, getting skinnier at the top, whereas the jackel one you show appears like the whole paddle got a clearance cut on the inside face to make the thing skinnier.
