I got that part. Thought there was more to it than that is all. Obviously the barrel needs to be held in place, and not the upper receiver. I'll probably use a level to ensure index. Does the washer need to be crushed until there's only 180*(or 90*) of rotation left, backed off and then tightened to ensure proper torque? I've heard the term "timing" thrown around in reference to installing comps, but no one has been able to give me a good idea of what that is, or if I'll need to worry about it when installing the RMC.

John/Rainier, any input on my question for page 1 (copied below)? Thanks

Looks neat, but why the asymmetrical ports? The ports on top are designed to help minimize muzzle flip/rise. Right, I understand that much. Wouldn't having two ports pointing top-right and one port pointing top-left create an uneven force, pushing the rifle slightly towards the side with only one port? Just want to understand this from a mechanical perspective. In my experience, perfectly symmetrical comps end up pushing the muzzle slightly to the right for right-handed shooters. It is a function of hold and stance, it seems. Consequently, a lot of guys end up enlarging the ports on the right of the comp, or drilling another port laterally. This comp seems to be designed for people who would otherwise open up the right side of their comp. So would the RMC (and XTC which has the same holes on top) not be the best choice for lefties? If the asymmetric holes push the muzzle in towards a right handers body then they would push the muzzle even further away from a lefty; similar to an AK slant brake which I believe can be reversed for lefties? Very tempted to get one of these, especially with the great intro price, just want to make sure it provides good muzzle control for lefties. |

John/Rainier, any input on my question for page 1 (copied below)? Thanks The ports, while designed for right hand shooters, will work for lefties too. Mind you, the XTC and RMC are mainly designed to minimize the felt recoil straight to the rear, which will assist in managing muzzle rise. |

Damn, just ordered one of these Sunday and didn't know about the discount.

I installed it on a 10.5" SBR, works very well as advertised. I wasn't bothered by
the noise level. I was on the range by myself so I can't comment on noise or concussion effects on persons other than the shooter. Definitely worth the price even without the introductory discount. (IMHO) We just did some more testing. It's definitely not a flash suppressor nor is it intended to be, it's a real flasher. My Knight TT equipped equipment snob partner thought it kicked more than the TT. Of course the RMC is mucho less money than the TT. Standing at 4 and 8 o'clock from the shooter, I didn't think the noise or concussion was bad at all(JMO). I'm changing the SBR's nickname from "Junior" to "Boomer" |

Ordered 2 !
had to switch web browsers to get coupon code to work. Thanks for what seams to be an awesome deal, cant wait to get the product on a rifle! |

By the way that elzetta light looks great next to the comp. They compliment each other very well. |

need to take off my A2 Birdcage to replace it with Rainier Arms Flash. Cannot find any videos online. What is the best way to remove this from a Daniel Defense (if it makes a difference). Dont wanna damage my barrel or bend anything unintentionally. thanks!

There are a few earlier posts in this thread that talk about installation and timing. |

I got it off by heating it up with a lighter, the wrenching it off easily.
thanks tho man. |

Much thanks to Rainier Arms. There customer service is top notch.
Long story short -1 for Chase Bank. +1 for Rainier! I received both comps today and order was placed on Friday. The "just shoot it" sticker that was added swag was much appreciated. You guys should make it a shirt I would be in for 1! |
|
The Rainier Arms logo needs to be on the top, not the right side correct?

Not only do they look bad ass...they work great!
I got to shoot it on my 16" M4gery and not only did I loose almost all muzzle rise, the blasts out of the side ports is just jaw dropping. The guys next to me didn't like me too much by the end of the day, but oh well. My paper target has never looked like it hurt so much. LOL! All honesty...I was most impressed with how easy my follow up shots were. Well worth the $30.00 I paid for it. Think I might just have to order another before Rainier decides to not make anymore after the first 250 they made. |

Received, installed, and tested.
Most definitely an improvement in muzzle rise, felt recoil impulse, and appearance. There was a little bit of an increase in noise off to the side, but it was minimal, and not shocking like other devices. I also like that it's shorter than an A2 flash hider. It's nice to finally have an effective muzzle device that DOESN"T increase the overall length of my weapon. Great product!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/jeepnglock/RMCsideshot.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/jeepnglock/RMCshortshot.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v475/jeepnglock/RMClongshot.jpg |

Do these have any negative effects on accuracy?
I have a SPR style rifle that I have been woking on, it it doesn't have a muzzle device as of yet. I just have a thread protector on it as of now, but want to add something.....I just don't want to add anything that would screw up the accuracy. Any input? |

I've shot the RMC on my lightweight build with an Aimpoint T1 at 50 yards with no noticeable drop in accuracy. |

I just ordered 2
If they work as well as it sounds.....and the special price is still in effect.....I may need to order a SS version too. Thanks! |

This is a great product.
My review is up here: Rainier Arms RMC Summary from Blog: I’ve had a chance to do some more extensive test firing of the RMC. I found that it is very effective at reducing muzzle rise and felt recoil, making follow up shots very fast. When doing strings of rapid firing I found that there is essentially no muzzle rise and recoil is minimal. I had an easy time keeping my sights on target, which was surprising given that my SBR is very lightweight. However, nearby shooters found the concussion very harsh. I believe that much of the concussion is attributable to the fact that the RMC on is mounted on a 10.5″ barrel. The RMC is almost identical to it’s big brother, the Rainier Arms XTC. The RMC utilizes personal deterrent points, while the XTC has flash hider prongs. I have shot the XTC and stood next to shooters using the XTC on a 14.5″ barrel. I didn’t find the concussion from the 14.5″ rifle with the XTC to be particularly obnoxious, which leads me to believe that much of the concussion I experienced is a due to barrel length. As many can attest to, a short barreled AR has significant blast, even without a compensator, so the concussion was to be expected. While the blast is severe for nearby shooters, this is a very effective muzzle brake, as is the XTC. |

Mine is on my 16" carbine and it too is loud to those next to me. Last weekend when I was at the range some guy asked me if my AR was in .308 because of how loud it was. That being said....it wasn't really any louder than the Garand or Mosin Nagant the guy was shooting next to me. Good write up!! |

Well I put about 120 rounds through my 16" pencil barrel carbine today and the RMC definitely made a difference compared to the A2 birdcage I had on it before. It cut down on muzzle rise and I was definitely was able to get on target for follow up shots much quicker. I didn't really notice it being any louder than before. The RMC was a great addition to my rifle at a price that will be hard to beat. I think that I might also add a heavier buffer in the near future.

Good review Brew1182.
I too have a 10.3 I am looking to mount it on. How is the muzzle flash from the shooters POV compared to the A2? I guess the only way to know is to order it and try it, if I dont like it on the sbr, I can put it on one of the other AR's. |
