OK, I'm really starting to like shooting this AK-74, 5.45X39. The AK-74 has a AKBC attached and the compensator works like a charm. For the AR shooter, the AK rifle challenges the user with the manual of arms that may not be ideal, the plain sights sucks, and the ergonomics of the weapon is not to everyones taste. The AK user has options now with rail selections, VFG, tactical lights, RDS and various stocks such as the Vltor and Magpul. This robust rifle has been turned into a 21st century tool for the end user.

For the AR users who want options, take a closer look at the AK series rifle, ammo for the 5.45X39 is very cheap, parts are available and Compensators like the AKBC takes shooting the AK to another level. With companies like Rifle Dynamics in Las Vegas and Solar Tactical, there's always folks out there, who can help fine tune your AK. I think keeping an AK in your inventory will make you appreciate every aspect of domestic and foreign manual of arms. So yeah I've become an AK fan after all the years of blastin' with an AR and M-14.

Can you take pictures of how the stock mounts up to the rear trunnion?  I really like these stocks but I'm concerned about them since they are really designed for use with Beryl rear trunnions.

How do those tapco mags fit in your WASR? Did you need to do any fitting?

Nice rifle BTW.

thanks man...
The TAPCO 30 round magazines fit amazing, I prefer them over the metal ones that came with the gun.
The TAPCO 20 round mag I have was a little tight fit but after a few times of using it, it has started to work its way in a lot better.

how do you get that old weathered look to the receiver and barrel? Or is it just natural from years of use?

Picked up a SAR-2 that hadn't had much love, it was in rough shape so I turned it into a battlefield pickup. Got the tools and the 1/2x28 to 24mm adapter from CNC Warrior, threaded the muzzle and mounted a 74 brake. I had some Romanian stocks laying around and one of them had some soldier graffiti on it, that combined with an old Romanian leather sling (I think it's a sling for a Mauser) and it looks pretty good.

Saiga-style homemade grip.  I was big into Saiga conversions for a few years and a guy in PA was making awesome furniture for them, this was left over from that whole era of mine.  I hung onto it figuring I'd find a use for it someday.

I cut the cheek piece portion off the dragunov stock (banned era thumbhole stock), I formed it using belt sander and dremel tool to form a channel at the front and rear of the cheek piece to fit into the wire stock at two points; front and rear. When done, tape up everything good then JBweld it at the two contact points… when the JBweld dried, I applied a few coats of true oil.

Still figuring on how I'm going to mount a light. Probably end up mounting a small piece of rail on the gas tube in front of the furniture.

Nothing special just some Tapco furniture, ak74 muzzle brake, and some mags, UTG rail, tasco (pos) scope, and of course my StreamLight TLR-2S tactical light/laser combo. It seems to get the job done when shooting at those beer cans.
