If a person is a professor at a SUNY school, do their dependents get free tuition?

Anyone know?

Anyone know who to call to find out?  My google-fu returned nothing, other than, "If you work there, they'll give you a free class per semester..."

I teach at a university, but not SUNY. In general the free tuition benefit depends on what type of employee you are (i.e. part time, full time, adjunct, contract, etc).

https://www.suny.edu/sunypp/documents.cfm?doc_id=416    (this may be very old info)

https://www.suny.edu/media/suny/content-assets/documents/benefits/benefit-summaries/FTUUPbenefitsummary-Jan-2022.pdf
(benefits "one free course per semester" and shows a little money back)

This may be of some help?  Or not.   Maybe head you the right way.  I don't know any details

But for the love of God, don't move here for that.

It does not appear that college employees children get free tuition.

There is another reason I am researching this.

For what its worth, at my university that position would qualify for the tuition benefits

I don't know about SUNY but the dependent tuition thing at local universities has changed over the years. Used to get 100% free, then people hired after a certain date only got a percentage off.
My ex works at Cornell and my oldest went to a SUNY school. The inter-school tuition agreement got her a discount on tuition of 30%

Back in the 70's and 80's, LIU had a very generous program. My father was a full professor. My mother got her Masters Degree for free and my sisters got their Bachelors Degrees for free. There were certain fees that were not waved and they had to buy their books but my father got a very good discount at the college bookstore so their books were less expensive. I went to a college in Massachusetts so LIU gave my father a monetary grant every semester. One summer I took a course at LIU to get makeup credit at my college. That was free but that fall my father did not get the grant.

The first perk to go was the free Masters Degree which ended about three years after my mother got hers. The Bachelors Degree was still available and my sisters got theirs. My father retired in the 1990's and I have no idea what benefits they give now but I am pretty sure there is no free degree any longer.

The tuition will go down as income most likely you would be taxed.

Private schools do this more generously.

A coworker retired somewhat early to take a job in security at an Internationally renowned engineering college for the free tuition for his kids.
