Where are we talking? Suburban metro NYC/Bergen NJ area? Upstate? Western NY?
I'd be in once in a while if it was in the NY NJ area. |
If we do this as often as once a month, I think we can rotate it. Say, Central Jersey, Nassau/Western Suffolk, Westchester/Rockland. This is for the Metro Area guys of course....you Canadians and Delawarians will have to go hungry.... |
Well, you got Okey Dokey on Suffolk, then there's various Outbacks, Hooters, Boulders Creek, Applebees, Chilis and so on.
C'monman....we're talking STEAK here...not dog food... Okay, Nassau/Queens border we have Luger's...Westchester has the Willet House in Port Chester (very close by Greenwich, CT)...West side Manhattan has the Old Homestead...What's in NNJ or Rockland...anybody? I don't suppose there's any decent steak left in Da Bronx, though they have good Italian and Seafood on City Island.... |
Yeah we pick a nice place, screw the chain type places and move around from area to area. this way we get to meet other local arfcommers if they wanna get together and nobody gets left out. So who is picking the first place and when?
Since so many people talk about Peter Lugers I vote for that!! |
not to discourage anyone but: CA$H ONLY(bring lots of it)...no C/C's unless you have the Peter Luger's Card |
Not that I am questioning your ability, nor is it an indication of mine, but have you ever SEEN the menu and prices of a Peter Luger's? Worth EVERY penny, but if you ain't leaving your first born as a tip ... |
No problem LD. I just figured we'd pick a place set a dollar amount needed and those who wanna go will go. we wont always go to a place like Lugers. Hell I love JR's Steakhouse out in Rocky Point where you can have a 72 oz steak for like $35.00 or so. Even little out of the way places that people can suggest and we try out. All different price ranges so everyone can partake and enjoy meeting other members. Hell I wanted to get a Softball game going between the LI/NY crew and you bums in Joisey.... Come get some... |

Sounds like a great idea Mag. I've been in hibernation from shooting and nice steak and pint of some fine ale might just wake me up.
So when are we going to JRs? 72 oz could last me a few days. |

You Downstaters are really New Jersey-ites anyways........... |
Yo LD, any good places in your heck of the woods?
I like Sparks Stakehouse, but can't afford another mortgage. Ruth Chris is an option. Yea, I know stay away from the chains. |
RC is not a Leave your lungs, but the eye candy!~!!!! |
sounds like a great idea you have Majors in woodburry, Manero's Steakhouse Syosset, The Clubhouse Huntington,if you like fish/steaks maybe looking in freeport, Lindenhurst, Bayshore.
mag162 only thing bad about a good steak house or another non chain restaurant like that it will have limited seating and maybe tough with a large group to get seated still your idea is awesome |
It doesnt look like we will have a big group anyway, But you never know. If I said Hooters every 3rd Wednesday for an Arfcom union Meeting We'd sell out the place. I just figured a few members once a month for dinner try out a couple of new restaurants that kind of shit |
Have you tried Frankie & Johnnie’s in Rye? It's supposed to be very good and is within walking distance from the Rye train station. The Willet House is very good too. www.frankieandjohnnies.com/ www.thewilletthouse.com/ |
For that, I'll pass. Denny's makes a better steak my friend. |
For the price they charge there you can't expect much. The trick is to drink a lot before you eat. Then the steak hits the spot. I remember going there with friends of mine that used to live in Hoboken after happy hour. The key is after happy hour! For the LI guys could do a shoot and then J&R's in Calverton. Pretty reasonable prices too. |

the one in Jericho is better the Nautilus in Freeport has real good steaks and seafood Alettos in Lindenhurst has a good marinated 24oz porter and good lobsters. Jimmy Hays in Island park is good too My buddy said there is a real good upscale buffet in Huntington called EAST Prime rib, Duck, Lobster ,crabs, raw bar, sashimi etc, like $26 |
so can we do both steak dinner once a month and hooters on wed's?
:) Chris |
I prefer Lugers, myself. BUT, they are big and cheap. |
OK, plenty of suggestions posted. Someone name a date and location and we'll see what happens.
It seems to me that Manhattan is right in the middle. LI, Upstate and NJ...
How about Moran's? It IS right around the corner from the "Village Idiot" (if you catch my drift). |
Unfortunately, I can't make the 21st.
BUT I will make next month. Moran's is a decent price, and a great steak. |
