After my last CMP-style match is held this month, I'd like to hold a precision rifle match. 10 targets@ 100 yards, 10 shots, 10 minutes allowed per shooter (4 per relay-max) $10 to enter. 50% pay-out to top 3 shooters, remainder to the club.

Shooting from the prone postion, bipod/sling/rear bag OK. Any  rifle/scope combination will be allowed.

The target (10 total) is a ~1 inch blue donut with white 1/2" center. The scoring is like this: Hit the white center clean, 10 pts. Hit the white center AND inner blue part of donut, 8 points, hit the outer part of donut (no center), 5 points. No points for a miss. 100 possible points. Your first shot will be for score, so come with a zeroed rifle.

This match will be held September 25, 2005.

You MUST contact me to register.

Should be a lot of fun, and a challenging shoot!

Marc,

I'd like to weigh in and add a second round. The first timed "doughnut" could count for 50% of your total. Second round counts the other 50%.

Second round: "Bluehead" targets, 10 rounds total. 1 in 5 sec, 2 in 10 sec, 3 in 20 sec, 4 in 30 sec. 10 pts for hits 1/2" from center, 9 pts for hits 1" from center, zero points for hits outside the 1" mark.

We know what timed events do to concentration!I have to ask...I'll show you my second bluehead from the PR class

Hmmm, the trapshooters would fill their pants with Gile's bluehead target, even worse with the 1-5s

Location is Otisco Lake R&G Club, Marietta, NY. About 20 miles SW of Syracuse.

I'll also plan on a fun shoot after the match is over. I'll bring bowling pins like last time.

Please bring your Dad. Us young pups need to learn from a skilled shooter

Marc, should I bring that Aussie  ammo that shot so well, or should I load up what my 700 considers match rounds??????

I 'll pass the invite to Dad and see what he's doing that weekend.

What no baloons for the funshoot?

You should also have a prize for the shooter that comes in last, something like a compilation of Michael Moore's combined works???????

This is a money match. Bring some of the good Chile surplus ammo;)

I wonder if Aimless already has those?

PSS w/scope is the way to go. That 1/2 inch bull is mighty tiny with irons;)

Bring your other stuff for the fun shoot afterwards.

Hmm , I see my schedule is clear that day (Actually it's clear till next year )

Two questions : Can I shoot an AK?

                       And is cross firing ok?

I'd suggest you set up next to Aimless. He is deadly on th ex-ring (on the target next to his)

Looks like a fair number of guys from GATM/ARFCom will be attending. Cool

Damn straight, a 10 and a 9 so far on other people's targets. I am here to help! (too bad they were both shooting .30 rifles)

Well I guess I'll have to use that AFF baall I have for match rounds, I wouldn't want to take unfair advantage of the Penguin or anything...

I'll be coming out and probably with Dad in tow.  Marc you bringing the SR25 out? My Dad beat all our butts with it, and I'm sure he can do it again! LOL!

Yes, I will be shooting the SR25. I like the 6.5-20X glass for this type of shooting. Basicly to score a perfect "10" on this target, you have to cleanly place your shot within a circle smaller than a dime. It ain't easy.

Wade, can your dad shoot prone?

9 AM.

I have decided to allow up to 5 optional sight-in shots on a seperate target if a shooter desires before engaging the scored targets. The sighters will be included in the total 10 minute time period allowed for the match.

Don't forget to bring some guns for a fun shoot afterwards, although I have to wrap things up by 1PM...

I don'y think much more than ~10 shooters will be coming

7 "hardy" souls ventured out in a monsoon this AM. The rain let up long enough for us to fire 2 relays, then picked back up again. I think all would agree that it was a challenging shoot. My friend Don won with his custom Hart .308; I came in a somewhat distant second with my SR25. I shot a few too many "5"s to beat the ol' codger I am pretty sure that Aimless placed within the top 7

It let up enough for us to do a number on some bowlng pins in some timed pistol/carbine events.

No more shooting events will likely be planned until next summer.

Frankly, I was a little disappointed in the lack of interest from the NY guys. I did meet a few new friends, including a couple from this board

Had a great time even though my father and I had to leave after the match. The surgery on my old van seemed to go well, and next time I'll remember to brong a proper bag for the rear of my treelimb...errrrr shooting stick!
