I'm thinking I'll be at Market Hall this weekend. I'm trying to round up some folks for a Market Diner breakfast/brunch in another thread (where I take over N TX meetups). I need nothing, but am bored, bored, bored. The right single action wheelgun could cause me to dip into my budget for another toy.
Sorry to hear I'm going to miss Rebel and Back. Maybe at Mesquite. |

Best Market Hall I've seen in quite awhile. Main hall was pretty packed with vendors and buyers. Line to get in was relatively quick. Parking was a PITA, but that's just Market Hall. Ammo prices are still redonkulous. Some gun prices are the same. But parts seemed reasonable and about half the mag vendors were reasonable. I picked up Glock mags, a barreled upper, charging handle and patches.
Good to meet you, @HenryKnoxFineBooks. |

Market Hall parking is at least free and plenteous, unlike Mesquite & Fort Worth.

Over the years I have always come down Harry Hines to Market Center and come in from the north. Rarely have I ever had a long wait to get into the lot. The hotel at one time was towing show overflow if they parked on the west side. Construction has been a problem there for years. |

The biggest goatfuck I have seen there for parking was the weekend they had a craft show in the north hall and a gun show in the other. The big hall and the upstairs were crammed full of guns and a bridal and craft show in the other hall. At least one ticket got you in both sides. Many couples were happy that weekend. |

I don't think I've ever seen guns upstairs, even when they had a Huey helicopter in the smaller hall.

View Quote Back in the late 80s/early 90s during the early Clinton years, the show was huge, as was the show downtown at the then Convention Center. Seems like then it was the main hall and the upstairs area. When they allowed beenie babies/baseball cards/ NASCAR stuff in with no limits, some of the gun dealers got shuffled upstairs along with the concessions. IMHO it was better when the concessions were upstairs because you could eat a meal and overlook the show for some prime people-watching. |

They were doing beerbug vax shots for UTSW in the space under the mezzanine, so it was completely blocked off from the show. That put extra pressure on the two sets of bathrooms. I expect that contributed a bit to the traffic.

We got there about noon, and were able to walk right in, the morning crowd was leaving as we arrived. When I left at about 2:30, there was a line to get in as the afternoon crowd showed up. Don't know what they were going to buy, as inventory was thin if you were looking for a firearm.
The rows were spaced out to account for loss of vendors / vendors using fewer tables and accommodate the crowd. |

April 24 Big Town
1) Appeared that every gang in DFW was present with girlfriends to straw purchase for them. Estimate over 30% of the sardine packed crowd. Interestingly a lot appeared to be selling or they were just waving their guns around. Can't do that at Whole Foods. Haven't had so many masked dudes point AKs in my face since I was last in Somalia. One dude was literally walking around carrying two 5" stacks of bills with $100s facing out. Like $120k if all 100s. WtfLol. 2) Parking lot was 100% packed. Had to park over a curb in a mud swamp. 3) Never seen so many actual purchases - ever. See crowd #1 above for majority of purchases. Way overpriced purchases. Didn't appear to be any shortage of firearms or ammo, just way overpriced. ----- $79 - $100 100rnd boxes of 9mm FMJ in brands never heard of ----- $100 bricks of 550 .22 LR bulk ----- $100 50rnd boxes of 38spl Round Nose ------ Most if not all guns >70% over MSRP ------------$949 Sig 365X ------------$499 Ruger LCP2 .22LR ------------$399 Taurus TX22 black ------------ Used PS90 at $3599 LOL, I should have paid that $700 back in 2012 ------------$149 Stripped Anderson Lowers 4) The now 81 yr old Latino guy I've talked to at shows since the 80s and bought the VHS Clinton Chronicles from was selling remote bomb detonators and how-to booklets. Nice. 5) I bought some purple brass knuckles from a cool dude who talked to me about curing cancer and assorted maladies by drinking chlorine dioxide. Attached File |

Instead of a few purchases (circa my last show Thanksgiving), try hundreds and the vast majority of all purchases I saw. Leaving the show there was a group of a dozen masked gang bangers leaning on some other guy's (still inside show) Challenger with their AKs (mags in) and Glocks with drum mags pointed at the camera girls and intentionally everyone walking past. Guess it's ok because it's at a gun show? Never seen anything like that in the middle of the day even in the worst parts of Chicago, Baltimore, and St Louis. Maybe it wasn't like that today (Sunday) because they were all in church. |

The reception they got on at least two of their little "protest" at Market Hall didn't go exactly the way they planned. The reaction they got wasn't what they were hoping for.
