NATIONAL PRESS CLUB PANEL DISCUSSION
CONCEALED CARRY In D.C.- -
Should Citizens Be Allowed to Carry Firearms ?
Thursday, October 9, 3 p.m.
National Press Building
13th Floor, Zenger Room
529 14th St. NW,
Washington DC 20045.
George Lyon, one of the litigants whose suit led to the overthrow of the Washington, D.C., concealed-weapon ban,
and Paul Helmke, former president and chief executive of the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence,
will discuss whether "gun carry" laws benefit society.
Should U.S. citizens be allowed to carry weapons?
All 50 states have laws on both the ownership of guns and
the right to carry them. A U.S. district court ruled in July that
Washington’s ban on the carrying of all weapons violated the
Second Amendment. To comply with the ruling, the D.C. City Council
has rewritten the law to require District residents to demonstrate a need
to carry a concealed weapon.
All Constitution & Second Amendment advocates are encouraged to attend this lively debate.
