I plan on spending 1 night with the wife and kids in Springfield for a concert next weekend. Have been spending summers in Shirley / Lunenburg area. Literally Mayberry. Is downtown OK at night? Hotel is 2 blocks from venue.

Downtown sucks. Really not much there. And you can easily get in to the bad part of town. Its consistently in the top 25 worst cities in the US for a reason.

On the other hand, the new casino opened up last week.
