So I went to the range on Sunday to fire my .22 SMLE mkIV I got a couple of months ago for the first time. it shoots high and doesn't extract properly not a big deal !

So off to Fultons on Tuesday and a new front sight blade and extractor are fitted and off to Melville for a quick check fire. first round doesn't extract, second round a little bulged and doesn't extract third round crack pain eye full of crap bugger FEELING STUPID (my own rule broken no shooting glasses after a repair or new home load) back to Fultons they take a look it appears the only thing stopping this happening was the faulty extractor and the breach face was the wrong profile  for the rifle and not supporting the cartridge (think 10mm Glock) further investigation reveals a modded .303 no1 bolt head not a .22 MkIV, Fultons recommended I call the seller and get shot of it as it would not ever be safe.

the folks I bought it from straight away agreed to a refund ( they are well known specialists in their field) if I wasn't leaving for the States this would be the last ever purchase from anyone who exhibits at the phoenix this is the second rifle I have purchased that when you strip it all the way down it ain't what it should be.

So in summary, no matter how good a reputation   and whatever organisation recommends them buyer beware.

What I will say is that if you've bought a .22 Enfieldin the last six months or so get in touch with the seller they want to fix it for you!!!

If I go blind because of a dodgy .22 rifle after you have been asked to spill the beans then I'm going to come after you with a white stick and a land shark and make you buy me beer for the rest of my life.

Once upon a time the world and his dog were making firearms in all manner of establishments and with an accordingly wide range of quality control.

That has changed - with modern quality controlin the LEGAL gun making business, its just not needed anymore. But i am sure the Govt get a few pennies in tax from it.
