Why would they come here vs other states with much stronger 2nd amendment support now I could see RRA or any of the many manufacture  around the quad cities moving across thre bridge.

What are we missing but the NFA stuff? We do have the largest distributor and another one right next door, which would be a strong incentive. I wouldnt mind doing the TIF testing for the entity that could entice Magpul to this great state and I fucking hate TIF.

He isn't selling Iowa short. We ARE too liberal. Lets face it, why would magpul even think about moving here when there is a potential mag ban here?! Not that Iowa is extremely liberal, but it's liberal enough to not be a safe haven for firearms related companies. If they go anywhere, it'll be to a red state, like Texas.

There is a potential mag ban in every state, most wont make it out of committee, like the one in Iowa. Even in Texas and Oklahoma. (Not to mention Texas's demographic shift in the last decade) Plus you are asserting that a D by their name means they are anti and R means they are pro, which does not  correlate at the state and local level and hurts the cause's ability to generate bi-partisan coalitions to get some of the shit rolled back. You know how you change a rep that is indifferent to guns at best to a pro 2 amendment, drop a company that employs a couple hundred of their constituents, with federal contracts, in their district. Put the factory in Council Bluffs  and see how many mag bills make it to the floor of the Senate.

But I guess we are too liberal to even try  to attract employers to the state.

Listen buddy, our state voted majority for Obama. I'm ashamed of that. We as a state voted for gay marriage, government regulated health care, fiscal irresponsibility, abortion, anti 2nd amendment etc etc. We voted for the epitome of a left wing, democrat, liberal, socialist president. All I'm saying is, if I were the leader of a company, I'd be going somewhere else besides Iowa. Yeah it would be good for Iowa to bring in new business. (Duh) but magpul isn't thinking about what's good for the state, they're thinking about what's good for them.

So give up, because the presidential election didnt go like you wanted it to. The state government, you know the one that are most likely to accurately portray the values and priorities of the state's electorate, certainly does not indicate that is what Iowa is  headed down the same path as the dark blue states. By your logic Texas and Oklahoma are blue also, because  majority of the Electoral College went for Obama. You are trying to extrapolate one data point and then declaring a free enterprise would be best to avoid this state because of it. You have effectively told  Richard M. Fitzpatrick or any other entrepreneur, "Don't come here, because 91,927 more people voted for the guy I didn't like." While politics can be an important part of where a business puts downs roots, it is not the only reason. How about we focus on the positives of Iowa and try to change the minds of our friends and family members that have a bit different view of the world.

That is where the governor comes in and it applies to ALL types of business not just people like Magpul.  Why would you not offer a business tax incentives or other incentives to come here knowing full well your tax revenue will actually go up because of the jobs created?  The liberals scream when they here of this type of thing, but the fact is you need to make a sales pitch to potential employers to bring them to your state in a way that benefits all parties.  It happens all the time and the larger the potential number of jobs created the better the incentives that can be offered to bring them in.

To me it doesn't matter that we are talking about a company that makes parts we like that is just a bonus.  More jobs in Iowa helps ALL of us even if you are already employed.

I never said I was giving up. All I'm saying is that Magpul isn't coming here. Currently, there are many other, better environments for them. I'm not just giving up on my state and my friends and such. You're reading me wrong.

great advice...   I have sent our governor informing them of a business's plight in CO and they could be looking to move, and maybe he would want to reach out to the company and their 200+ direct and 700+ indirect jobs.






 

Instead of wishing they would come here let's just stop this bull shit from passing I spent a good chunk of time on the phone yesterday calling all the state reps with a simple message I spend a lot of money in Colorado every year if my personal protection firearm that I carry in remote wilderness areas on hunting/camping trips is restricted I will spend my money else where.


ETA I would be more than happy if they did move here just saying wouldn't be logical

The problem isn't any potential gun legislation.  Its the commercial property tax.  They are cheaper places to do business.  A business is most concerned about numbers.  Politics is a distant second.  Probably more like a distant tenth.  

I do economic development work.  Not once in any conversations I've had has the issue of gay marriage come up.

It took awhile for carry reform, but many in this area of the state pushed. I'm sure there are similar communities such as Mt. Pleasant, but Blue Bird pulled out of here and left a HUGE building suited for manufacturing.

I would be the first one in line to apply if they moved into the old blue bird plant. Wish some one would that's getting to be an eye sore
