I should be able to make it, barring any last minute disasters. Could I bring a couple of railroad steel plates to bang on? (painted yellow and hanging from a 2x4 they make a hell of a target out to 200yds).

Here are maps and diredtions to Ike's Tract.

On Hwy 30, just WEST of Tama, between Tama and Marshalltown you will come to H Ave. There will be a farm with a white fence on the S side of the road, and you will take H ave to the N. About 1/2 mile to the N the road turns to the right slightly. One the right side of the road, is a sign shaped like an arrowhead that says Ike's tract. This is the driveway (driveway heads East).

Here are some maps.

GPS coordinates are:

N 41.59.962
W 92.37.365

Another set of Lat / Long.

N 41.99784
W 92.62450

Let me know if you need more info!

The shoot is Sunday only? right? I am still non commital as work and some damn thing my wife is having done at the Hospital on Monday Morning. I am trying to come.

Any problem forseen with NFA weapons, do we need to invite the local sheriff's dept. for some training to keep it legit?

If anyone in the area has a lot of left over pumpkins they make great targets. If you guys got a pumpkin farm with leftovers they are great to shoot.

Might not be a bad idea to call and check. I am unfamilier with NFA rules in Iowa. The county Sheriff is Tama county in Toledo Iowa if you want to call.

Looks like I can make it. Have to drive back to Ames on Tuesday afternoon so racking up the miles. Can't do a stayover which would make the most sense.

Also, I'll be providing a warming tent with a small woodstove. We can also bring a grill for burgers, steaks or whatever you would like to grill.

"On Hwy 30, just east of Tama,"

I might be there.  I haven't picked an AR yet, still deciding which route I want to go with one.  But that won't be to far from Des Moines.  Maybe you guys can help me make up my mind.  Anybody have anything to sell?

I should be able to make it. If anybody needs a ride and lives close to Ankeny let me know. If you don't have an AR yet, don't worry. Just grab a couple of 40-round value packs at Walmart, and just show up. I'm sure there won't be a lack of ARs to play with.

I am trying to decide whether or not to go to the gun show in Cedar Rapids or the shoot on Sunday. I can only really do one or the other this weekend.  I live on the east side of Des Moines, so Tama is only about an hour away and Cedar Rapids is 2 or so.  I wonder if I could get both the show and the shoot in on Sunday?

Assuming I can find the place, I think I will be there on Sunday. Bring some shotguns too as I got about 4 boxex of blue rocks to shoot up. and a Hand thrower.

I'll be bringing my 12x12 wall tent, some tables, and wood stove for a warming area if it is chilly. Also might bring the grill, and the girlfriend is making up some venison stew that we can put on top of the wood stove and let simmer all day. Looking forward to seeing everyone!.

Well I loaded up the Mobie Firearm Transport Unit tonight. Damn I need some ammo guys.

I am bringing the following
M16 .223
M16 9mm
UZI SMG 22lr kit and 9mm
Glock Select Fire Pistol
Walther P22 with silencer, ugly but still works
Ruger 10-22 integral silenced
FN FAL G1 308 select fire
Converted Maddi AK47 full auto X39
A couple short shotguns and my 1100 Remmy for shooting flying discs.
Russian PPSH 41 select fire, 7.62X25

I am going to have to charge $5 a magazine for shooting a gun, which should come close to coverng my ammo costs.

I don't have a lot of .223 or .308 or 9mm Subsonic for silencer shooting. Anyone bringing thier own factory loaded ammo can shoot and help me not run out of ammo of my own.

I seem to have plenty of the 7.62X39 and 7.62X25 and 22lr.

I tried to get it off but we're just too short handed at work.  It sounds like a great time and my thanks to Aviator for getting this going, a warming tent and venison stew...gosh I could call in sick tomorrow!  Hey David does that mean you loaded up the minivan?  Anybody who hasn't fired select-fire weapons before are in for a treat and $5 a mag is a bargain compared to the smile you won't be able to wipe off your face the rest of the day/week!  Good shooting guys and I look forward to reading about how it went!

Yea $5 a mag is ammo cost only. Usually at a make money shoot it's $15/mag. Las Vegas rental places get $50/mag and those Japaneese tourists pay it. I assume this is just gonna be a handfull of guys having fun, when it's 3000 people and becomes a job is when a person has to charge more.

How would you feel if you called in sick and that's the day the car bomber came through the gate and you did not get blown up? You would feel pretty guilty wouldn't you.

Anyway we will be thinking of you when we are busting rounds down range.
