Ok, guys, it's official; I am going to put together some lowers for us. This thread is not for idle chit-chat about what lower is best, or what design would be better than the other, or how much less it would be if we used a lower buil in West Dirkadirkastan. This thread is solely for people to say "Yes, I want one. I am ready to send in payment." I have spoken with my engraver and the design is set.
We will be using Sabre Defence lower recievers, as they are built right here in Nashville, TN. Why the heck would we want our Hometown forum rifle to use a lower built outside of the State, when there is an excellent lower built here? On the right side of the mag-well, there will be a circle / tri-star logo engraved. The logo will be engraved after the lowers are anodized, so the anodizing will be removed from the logo. There are several options available. I can leave it alone, so that the logo stands out, I can use Aluminum Black to cover up the bare aluminum, or I can paint the logo white, using Testor's model paint and a toothpick. When you reply to order your lower, let me know how you want your logo to appear. The lowers will cost $130 each, plus tax, TICS, and any shipping fees to your local FFL. It is your responsibility to arrange transfer with a local FFL, and to come to an agreement on pricing. If you are in the Franklin / Nashville area, you can pick it up directly from me. I also set up at the Nashville gun shows, so you can pick it up there, if you like. Obviously, since the June show is this weekend, I won't have them ready in time for it. However, there should be no reason why they won't be ready for next month's show. I would prefer payment be made via check or USPS MO, in the amount of $152. That's $130 for the lower, $12 for the sales tax, and $10 for the TICS check, or shipping, as appropriate. You can send payment to : Elite Tactical Systems, Inc. 105 Southeast Parkway, #106 Franklin, TN 37064 If you're local and want to pay for it in person, I will be at the Nashvegas gunshow this weekend, and the Franklin show next weekend. Or, you can arrange to come by the shop and pay me. Please bear in mind that I am not always at the shop, so we'll need to make an appointment. If you have any questions, feel free to IM me, or call my cell phone @ (615) 668-5345. I will be getting a Sabre lower engraved Friday, so we'll have pics posted over the weekend. If you want one/some, just tell me how many, how you want the logo to appear, how you want to make payment, and whether you'll be picking it up from me, or having it shipped to another FFL. Thanks in advance, Frank Maschhoff President, Elite Tactical Systems, Inc. Edit: tacked. This thread is for those interested only. Please keep the chatter to a minimum unless it is directly pertaining to the lowers. Thanks! ~the Hank |

Here is the list where I will post the names of people who have replied in the affirmitive. As I recieve payment, I will note it here, after your name.
1) OEF_VET (obviously).............Done 2) TNROBOCOP.......................Delivered 3) Herman Snerd.....................Delivered 4) Hank.................................. / Engraved 5) Pappy1...............................Delivered 6) einnor1040.........................Delivered 7) tankdriver........................... / Engraved 8) macho99957.......................Delivered 9) rightwingerTN......................Delivered 10) slowsure...........................Delivered 11) slowsure...........................Delivered 12) HKOverkill........................ Paid / Engraved 13) MCFooter..........................Delivered 14) MCFooter..........................Delivered 15) Crazyassazian...................Paid / Engraved Gentlemen, the lowers are engraved and ready to be picked up. I ordered just enough to fill the orders for this first batch. If anybody wants additional lowers, or decides in the future to buy one, I'll keep the offer going for awhile. (If I end up doing them in batches of 1-2, my costs go up, so the price might be higher.) In fact, I spoke with my engraver today about doing custom engraving work. Say, for example, you wanted a Marine Corps logo, or a 101st ABN patch, we should be able to do it. There is one caveat. The more detail in the design, the more difficult it will be to do it. Most likely, we will be laser engraving AR lowers in the future. Of course, as before, we do offer engraving for folks who need to mark an SBR lower. |

Is it possible to get a "personalized" serial number?
Such as your ARFCOM screen name? Or personalized selector switch wording? For extra money, of course. Inquirinq minds.... Would be a cool receiver to SBR, or make into a pistol. HKO |
hey frank what if i already have the lower, call me and let me know what you will charge for something like that, just the engraving. i can give it and the money to zach to give to you this weekend. just let me know b/c i am going to florida for a week. later!
Frank got a stripped Sabre lower from one I had in stock today. He will be getting it engraved and I will have it at mine and his table at the shows the next two weekends. I believe he is going to have some pictures up this weekend too.
Not speaking for frank, but based on our conversations I think that it will only be the logo engraved only. Otherwise price and hassle will go up. As far as if you already have a lower that's up to him. |

Im on sick leave for another month, 3 months all together. Got Denied Short Term Disability after after my THIRD OPEN HEART SURGERY "Aortic Valve Replacements", and had a pacemaker implanted the last time, April18 07.All i wanted was to draw for 3 months, but no!!
I HATE THE FUCKING SYSTEM !!! Edited to remove long rant |
HKO,
Sorry, can't do personalized serial numbers. I'll just be picking them up from Sabre, as is. If I were actually manufacturing them myself, then it would be possible. My engraver might be able to do selector markings, but I don't know for certain. Honestly, though, it might be a bit of a hassle for me to keep them all straight if we start adding too many custom options, as opposed to just grabbing a lower and filling out a 4473, with no real regard for the serial number. It might be easier to work that out later, but I will look into it, regardless. hydroshok, I don't know what your rant was about, but it's totally not germane to the conversation of this thread. Brad, Call me about getting your lower engraved. I'll take care of you, in return for the work you've done at the tables. I also might need another small vinyl sign done one of these days. |
I'm in for one, and will get a check headed your way.
I want my engraving left as is after anodizing so that it stands out. Thanks, Herman |
will this be ongoing? I want one but It'll take me probably 2 months to save the cash?
MHIDPA, If you want to wait a couple months, I can't see a reason why I couldn't get you a lower or two. However, I'm offering them for $130 for a limited time. I figure that if I'm running a bunch of them to the engraver, it's more cost effective than doing ones and twos. More cost effective = savings passed on to customers. It takes about two hours for me to drive through traffic to the engravers and back, and for him to do the engraving. If I've got to run down there for one lower, it takes away from other things I could be doing at the shop. It's not that I won't run down there for one or two lowers, it's just that I'd have to charge a little more. (To give you an idea, if a customer comes in asking for engraving, I usually charge $30 per weapon, so that I make $10 over what the engraver charges me. Honestly, that doesn't really cover my gas and time, but I look at it as building goodwill with the customer.) Also, if they were to buy a Sabre Defence lower from me, it'd usually run $125 plus tax and TICS. Add on $30 for the engraving (say they wanted to SBR it, and needed it engraved), and you're looking at $155 plus tax and TICS. All of this is assuming I have a Sabre lower in stock. If I have to order one or two special, they cost me $5 more than if I had ordered ten or more. Long story short, if you need to wait 2 months, I'll hook you up, but it'll cost you $140 plus tax and TICS. |

The proverbial check is in the mail.
Me too. |
Are they coming as "receivers", or "rifle receivers"?
In other words, can they be declared a pistol? HKO |
IINM, it depends on how I record them in my bound book. I believe I can log them in (and out) as pistols or rifles. I'll have to call BATFE to verify, though (unless someone can point me to a definitive answer on the 'net). If that's the case, and you want a pistol, you'll have to tell me when you order it, so I can be sure to log yours in as such. I won't be able to check this thread much this weekend, as I have a gunshow, and I'm going to a baseball game tonight. I will check it late each evening, however. |
I'm in unless the picture you post is really ugly!
Is payment by 6-23 acceptable? (What am I going to do with a 4th lower? Guess I'll build again!) |
How bout' a free one to the one that gave you guys the idea I will come get it
Payment by next week is cool. And I assure you, it will look great. I'm heading to the engravers' in about 2 hours for the first example. |
Sorry, jeep450; but all I see is a smiley. Did you say something? hehe |

Waiting to see the sample.
Predator custom shop in Knoxville has Sabre make their lowers, they say Predator custom shop, Knoxville, TN, I used one for my midlength. But I wouldn't mind having one from Nashville, TN with the 3-stars. |
awesome- thanks for posting it! i like the lines nice and bold.
That's because Predator Custom can afford to order them in LARGE batches. If I could afford to order enough, and had a variance issude by BATFE, Sabre will reset their machines to engrave the lowers with my name, logo, and city as well. Unfortunately, it takes orders on the magnitude of 100 lowers for them to do that. I don't have that kind of scratch laying around. I wish I did, but I don't. |
So how does Sabre log them, as stripped receivers or as rifles? |
Considering that they are completed receivers, as opposed to 80% receivers, and have serial numbers, I would say they have to log them as rifles, unless they will log it in as a pistol instead. I know they make full-auto stuff and of course will log them out as NFA items. Like Frank said, he will know on Monday. |

Awesome picture. Much better than I anticipated. As luck would have it I ordered a bunch of extra fine paint pens a couple of weeks ago and painted the safe and fire engraving on my RRA. It looks great so now I'm thinking blue in the circle and white in the stars....or maybe just keep it subdued with brown and green...
Anyway, leave the engraving just as it is...I'll figure out something to put in there! What the heck, cash is in the savings account. I'll just move a little over and send you the money order Monday! Thanks for the legwork Frank. This will be the quickest group buy I have been involved in. (the last GB I was in for a lower took over 6 months....of course we were buying from Olympic Arms who doesn't seem to have a customer service dept.) |
I've been known to get things done quickly. At least that's what my ex-wives always complained about. |
I'm in for a pistol receiver.
Payment to be sent this Tuesday/Wednesday. (if that's ok...) HKO |
I'm still not sure I can get a 'pistol' lower from Sabre, so stand by until I speak to them tomorrow. |
OEF_VET,
Will you be shipping directly to us, or will you be shipping to FFL on our end. I'm just trying to estimate total cost. Thanks |
If you will be picking them up from Frank directly, you will have to do a 4473, and pay your TICS if you haven't included it in your initial payment. If you are having it shipped to you, it needs to go through a FFL local to you. It is not coming from an individual intrastate, but rather a dealer, so it is required to go through a local FFL so make sure you include shipping, but you will do the 4473 and TICS at your local dealer. Please confirm with Frank your total before sending money to him. |
The total you owe me will be $152, regardless of whether you pick it up from me, or if I ship it your FFL.
$130 lower $ 12 sales tax $ 10 TICS check or shipping fee, whichever is appropriate As I stated in the original post, if you aren't picking up directlyfrom me, you will have to go through an FFL on your end. Either way, you will have to do a 4473 and pay the TICS fee. If you go through me, you pay me for the TICS fee. If you go through someone else, you'll pay them the TICS fee, but the total will remain $152. I'll just use the $10 to pay for shipping / handling and insurance. |
OK, according to David Powers at Sabre Defence, they are a rifle manufacturer. They do not build AR pistols. Their lowers are built, registered, and recorded in their bound books as rifles. It would be illegal for me to record them into, or out of, my bound book as a pistol. It would be illegal for me to sell one on a 4473 as a pistol. It is a crime for someone to build a pistol using a Sabre Defence lower.
Now, if you feel that your freedom is not worth it, I can't prevent you from building a pistol out of your Sabre Defence lower. The most I can do is inform you of the legality of doing so, and advise you not to do so. However, you are free people. I can't, nor would I, babysit you 24/7. What you do with your property is your business. |
All I needed to know. Not a problem. It is, and will stay, a rifle. (...unless I SBR it later..... LEGALLY, of course. ) I still want a (RIFLE) receiver. HKO |
Ok, I recieved payment from several people today, via MO and/or checks. I marked some of the names as paid, but some folks didn't write their screennames on the payment, so I don't know for certain who else has paid.
If you've sent payment, please IM me and tell me your real name and hometown, so I can get the right names marked. Thanks. |
I saw this receiver last weekend and I really would like to have one
now it's good... -the Hank |
PM sent since this thread is just for the hometown lowers for sale...
keeping it good... -the Hank |
I'm interested in one. I'll be up there in Nashville for the HondaTech meet on July 14-15th, is there a way I can pay and pick it up then?
I will have a table set up for at the Bill Goodman's gun show that weekend, at the Nashville Fairgrounds. If you send in payment ahead of time, I'll get a lower ready for you to pick up that weekend.
Update:
I just returned from picking up the first 15 lowers. I am most likely going to getting them engraved on Friday. So, the first 15 should be ready to pick up by week's end. |
