I work with a guy who owns a Guirado.  Previously had a Ferrari 360 Modena.

Those italian's are a whole other kind of fast.

Above 180 is a total different feeling.  The most dangerous thing about those speeds is target fixation.

You haven't driven in other states much then.  When I travel I remember how nice the roads are here.

"I am still in pursuit of a red Lamborghini.

This is not a recording."

edit - now that I think about it, the Lambo was still white.

They blasted the white paint off with fire hoses to expose the red, so that they could pass the same cop.

It made more sense when I was 12.

What's that a quote from Cannon Ball Run?

Yup,  I probably watched that move 40 times when I was 12.

The movie was based on a real race.

"The Cannonball Baker Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash" IIRC.

There is "Gumball Rally" which is still going on and it's rediculously expensive to get registered for and also they have parties at each major check point. Like crazy parties. Gotta go buy me a lottery ticket.

Gumball Rally vid.. small sample

I think the Gumball got shut down because a local finally got killed. I'll see if I can find the link...

Alright, found some stuff. Here's a bunch of info:

And it actually looks like they are going to go ahead with a 2008 rally as well:

I mean the Gumball 3000 guys.

But yeah, I'd like to have a car like that.

The rates aren't quite as bad as I was expecting.  May have to check one out next time I am in Vegas.

Those gumball guys are nothing but rich, spoiled brats.

They brag about who gets the most tickets and who gets jailed the most times.

Neither are any sort of deterrent to them.

Daddies attorneys have them out in no time and money is of course no object.

Maybe if we had a ticket system like Sweden that bases the fine off of your income, but since they don't actually earn it it probably wouldn't work anyway.

Now, throwing their butts in a chain gang to turn big rocks into little rocks, that might work.

Very true. Some made men, but the majority are rich kids living off of daddy's old money. I've got nothing against them going out and having a good time with some amazing cars, but to do so in such an irresponsible manner is just asking for trouble (like innocent deaths).

However, I'd rather see the cars rung out then sitting in some retired CEO's garage getting wiped down with diapers in between tennis lessons. Not going to deny that I'm jealous as hell.
