I just bought 1000 rounds of the 223 - 55gr FMJ for $170. I have a new Bushmaster that I hope to take to the range this weekend. Is this ammo good for rifle breakin and plinking?

What 45 ACP round do you suggest for IDPA/IPSC? They have 230 GR FMJ, and 200 GR wadcutter

I find that the GA .223 to be loaded a bit light but it functions fine in my rifles.  Accuracy is decent for training, plinking etc... I wouldn't use it for defensive purposes.

Most people shoot 230gr for IDPA and USPSA.  Tends to be softer shooting than 200gr.  Steel shooters sometimes opt for a lighter, faster, flatter shooting bullet though.  200gr LWC's cut nice round holes in cardboard though.  I would avoid plated wadcutters however.  What I've heard is that they aren't reliable feeders.

Well, I started my, new to me, rarely used bushy on a solid diet of Wolf(CHEAP). After being made fun of by almost everyone here I switched to Georgia Arms 'canned heat'. I found that I was hitting the 100 yard target ALOT better and Loraine was a bit less dirty, which meant I only had to clean her every fifth or sixth trip to the range. That is another story though. Now only a few people pick on me about the Ga Arms stuff, but there is always an opinion to be heard. I have put as few boxes of 'white box' through her, she chokes it all down! Gotta love that chrome!

Shoot what you like, or can afford, if you ask me.

For IDPA, I shoot 200gr LSWC loaded with 5grs. Titegroup.

I've gone through a few thousand rounds of canned heat with no issues through a Colt, BM or RRA.

I've got two Bushmaster's that absolutely love Georgia Arms .223
I haven't had any problems with any of their ammo, I buy .45, 9mm, .357/.38, and .44 mag/special and they all shoot fine.

I haven't shot the Canned Heat 5.56 yet but I have put close to 7-800 rounds of 45acp through my Ruger p90.  Both 230 FMJ and 200 LRN and 200  LSWC.

I got a bit more lead fouling from the pure lead round but all shot very well.  I can keep all 7 shots in a four inch group out of my Ruger at 25yds.

I use Georgia Arms exclusively (.223/5.56, 9mm, 45ACP, .308/7.62, and .30-06), except for my SKSs.  They don't have 7.62x39.

I use it for my carry ammo (9mm JHP and 45ACP JHP) and would not hesitate to use their .223 for defensive purposes.  That includes the 55gr canned heat.  I also have some of their SS109 stuff and some ballistic tip .223 that is accurate as hell.

I also find that their reloaded ballistic tip .308 and .30-06 ammo is just as accurate as brand new stuff.  With my Savage .30-06, I shot a single ragged hole at 100 yards using the reloaded ballistic tip.
