I ordered a Aimpoint Comp ML2 from Mid-South Tactical today. I also ordered the ARMS mount and spacer. Damn what an expensive mount. Anyway I shot an AR with this set-up yesterday and really liked it. Been considering one for a few months. Did I make a good choice? I really didn't need the NV setup, or did I want to spend $1000+ on the ACOG.

Thought, suggestions?

Thanks,
Andy

Sounds like you'll have a similar setup to mine.

Which BUIS did you get?

BookHound, you need to leave the photography to the professionals.

Oh, yeah, w30olds, I am envious!

Yea, I'm just too lazy to fix it.  One of these days I'll take some good pictures.

BTW, w30olds, how much did you pay for your Aimpoint?  I think mine was $338.

For a minute there I thought I needed to visit the optometrist again.

Then I realized it was just a really crappy picture.

Hey Bookhound:

Aimpoint was $339
ARMS Mount $99
Spacer $10

Yep, same prices I paid.  I very much like this setup.  I put everything together for a CQB class and couldn't be happier with it.

So, what are you doing for iron sights?

I especially like the "white noise" in the background...

Thanks for the input fellas! I'm not 100% sure about the rear sights yet. I'm looking at the pop up style from either ARMS, or Bushy. Similar to the ones in bookhounds pic.

Here is the mount I bought. I also got the spacer block as well. What would you guys recommend for the BUIS? I looked at the ARMS pop-up style. Do I need to change the front around, or will the rear sights work fine with the factory setup?

Thanks

That's the same mount/spacer I've got on mine.

I went with the Bushmaster BUIS and love it.  It was a little cheaper than the ARMS 40, which seems to be the preferred sight.  Either BUIS will allow you to co-witness the irons without modifying the front sight at all.  Sight in your Aimpoint by placing the dot right on top of the front sight post.

You need to bring your setup to the range with us sometime.

You can grab this mount for $15 or less from Brownells.  Works great.  I'd post a pic of my RRA M4TE if I knew how on this board.

Enjoy your ML2.  I love mine.  Here's some links anyway.

Yeah, but that defeats the purpose of spending an assload of cash on an optic mount.
It wouldn't be tactical practical!
Ask BookHound, he just throws money on the ground - Now that's tactical!

Well,

I got a call from MSTN yesterday. Said he was out of the ML2's. He told me he would swap for the CompM2. I'm guessing these are the NVD setup? I said that would be fine with me. Anyway shipped it air for the inconvience of not having the ML2 in stock. I hope it will arrive today, or tomorrow. Really looking forward to trying that sight out. Hey Mayo, nice looking AR you have.

Hey Book:

I'm looking at the 2 and the only difference is the NVD feature. What exactly does the NVD do, or used for? Forgive me, but not up with all the tactical info. Now if it were for computers I'd understand.

Thanks

Oh no.  Not another computer geek.  Welcome to the club.  Today I'm writing a DLL in C++, which will call Java objects using JNI.  Sounds like fun, doesn't it?  Oh yea, my code has to go to a customer's site this Friday afternoon so they can start integration testing next week.  What do you do?

Regarding the Aimpoint, the M2 will work with a nightvision optic mounted behind the Aimpoint.  REALLY cool if you ever go for the NV.  The M2 cost is higher than the ML2 by ~30-40 I think.  Just nice to know you have the option for the future.

I think I'm cheap...

Got my ML2 for $320 and the 22M68+spacer for $75.

The co-witness is just for a backup in case the Aimpoint fails or it helps acquiring the target?

Hey Book:

I've done some VB before in school. I'm in the networking side of computers. TCP, RIP, FTP,
ect. I also did a class on SQL Server. Found out programming wasn't my thing. I'm more on the hardware side Cisco routers, switches, ect. I'm going to school for a networking degree.

Thanks for the info on the Aimpoint stuff. I'll be glad to get it mounted up and trying it out.

Thanks Book and everyone for the info and replies. Look forward to meeting some of you guys soon.

Take care,
Andy
