i do im in summerville. i will probaly be there this sunday actually. which range did you have in mind, boggy head or twin ponds? twin ponds is alot nicer but boggy head is usually less crowded. i almost always go to boggy head myself.

its always great to meet local shooters. we sorta tried this once before but only me and one other showed up. still had a great time. brohawk knows how to cook on the grill

4-5 sounds great to me. i suggest boggy head simply because it will be alot less crowded on the weekends.

4-5 work for me as well

Sunday is best for me.  My schedule is normally slammed on Saturdays.

BTW, I contacted the Forest Service folks about renovating Boggy Head like they did Twin Ponds.  They said they don't have budget for those projects.  The Twin Ponds range was done with volunteer labor and donated materials.

Basically, it would take a community effort by the folks who use the range to get Boggy Head done.

OK, the 5th at Boggy Head.

I'll probably be out there early (around 0800).  You lads who need to sleep off Saturday night shouldn't feel rushed.  Show up whenever.

The last time Legonas & I did this we burned some burgers.  Do you guys want to do that?  Animal flesh + fire = good.

I could bring some Bubba Burgers.  If you want steaks, bring your own and throw 'em on the grill.

Sounds good Brohawk, I have no life, so sleeping off Saturday night will not be an issue....probably show up around 8:30-9:00.....How much ammo should be acceptible? Are we planning on tactical shooting or just line up and see who can punch the biggest hole thru the paper?

I don't expect to see an organized 3-gun match.  Probably more of a social blasting kind of outing.

In case you haven't been out there, there is nothing to hang targets on.  You need to bring a target stand, stakes, a box, or whatever.

nothing to hang targets on??? HMMMM........ok...I'll see what I can dig up

I made a target stand out of PVC pipe.  It was cheap and worked pretty good, but is in need of repair.

A friend of mine made a free-standing frame with 2X4s that he staples his targets onto.

BTW, NBR, where are you from?  I grew up in Pennsylvania.  After living in the South and learning a bit more history I've come to see myself as a Reconstructed Yankee.

ill be there early morning on the 5th. as for targets, i always bring water jugs and coke cans. they make great "reactive" targets, just got to clean up after yourself when your done!

also, since i just sold my .40 pistols, ill have a few hundred rounds of .40S&W to give away to whoever has a .40 gun.

I took apart a huge book case earlier...got a bunch of shelving to shoot at...maybe we could plan on building something permanet, like a scenario shoot, if we are going to continue to shoot here-just a thought...

Trust me, anything permanent out there will get destroyed by the bubbas.

Those idiots even shoot the board the range rules are posted on.

If they keep getting stupid, the Forest Service may even close the place down.

Some of those people make me wonder if all men really are created equal.

Hey Brohawk are you a C-17 pilot?

For you guys interested in some tactical rifle shooting, there is a shoot on Feb. 25th at the Carolina Star, just outside Aiken.  For more info go to the Georgia hometown board.  It promises to be a fun shoot

No.  I was a Crew Chief.  I fixed airplanes after the pilots broke them.

I retired from the USAF in '99 and now work for a company doing aircraft maintenance training systems.  Most of our business is C-17, but we have a little slice of the F-22 pie, too.

ok just to summerize!

The shoot will be at BOGGY HEAD RIFLE RANGE on SUNDAY, Feburary FIFTH (5) . seems most of us will be there early. i will be there until everyone else leaves, i run out of ammo, or the sun goes down.

BRING WATER if you plan to stay for a while. i will probaly have a couple gallons just in case. (there also targets )  there is NO "shelter", no running water, and no bathrooms, and you will be quite a distance from any of these!

bring target stands if you plan to shoot at paper targets. ill have some "alternative" targets and all that i ask is that you help me clean up before you leave.

Directions and rules can be found HERE.
