Getting ready to head to the OBX this weekend for a week of relaxation.

I was hoping you guys could give me a heads up on any construction on the following roads.

I-77 South
I-52 East
I-40 East (from Greensboro to Raleigh)
US 64 East (from Raleigh to Manteo)
I-40 West (from the coast to Raleigh)

We were supposed to go down last week, but ended up staying home due to the weather.  My parents went down from Greensboro, and the only thing dad complained about was the Knightdale crap.  Same as always.  Construction that seems to never get finished.  I-40 through G'boro is a lot better with the additional lanes being opened.

He said they have still not got all of the new 64 opened. That will cut alot of time off the trip when that is finished.

Hope this helps, enjoy your trip....

I 40 in the triangle has a LOT of construction and chokes on friday afternoons.  If you can get past Raleigh before about 3:30 it'll save you some time.  Edited to add - It'll stay busy well past 7 p.m. and if we get a lot of rain... well... folks in this area can't drive in the rain for S#!^.  (At least compared to those of us who learned to drive in "the land of the great white north, eh."  It'll turn into a parking lot. This is an are between exits 270 and 300 on I40.

We'll be leaving BFE around 12:30 today.  That should put us in Winston Salem around 4PM.  IIRC, takes about another hour and a halfish to get to Raleigh.

I don't know if they will ever finish 64.

Thanks for the info guys.
