I knew a former Class 3 MFG that showed me the paperwork (Form 2's) from May 19, 1986.
ATF was in his shop all day "Inspecting" it keeping him from making any new machineguns. 
They then disallowed a bunch of the ones he had legitimately made because they lost the paperwork and removed them from the registry.

To be honest, I don't see this going anywhere.
There is WAY too much money involved. It will only take one of the larger machine gun dealers to file a lawsuit and this will end. BATFE may THINK they're invincible, but there are judges out there that will stop them. |

Ignorant HK/machinegun person here.
Are HK sears serialized? How would they prove it was manufactured that day? Guns with serial numbers I can see, were the sears serialized? |

Registered sears are marked. Older registered-receiver, "swing down lower" guns use $8 OE unmarked sears. Exact same part except for the prison sentence and fine. |
