Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - No more MWCA shows at the State Fair Grounds

Went to check dates for upcoming shows and saw this on the MWCA website.  A communication from the State Fair obviously.


I am writing to let you know about a significant change here at the State Fair that will affect our ability to host future MWCA Weapons Shows and Sales.

Our new insurance policy requirements will not permit us to hold weapons-related sales, shows and other events at the State Fairgrounds. Unfortunately, this means that we are no longer able to host your events.

On behalf of the Minnesota State Fair, I want to thank you for the many years you have held your event at the fairgrounds. Your organization has always been a top-notch client, and we've enjoyed working with you.

ETA:  I wonder how long till the River Center pulls the same crap

Related to the anti gun shenanigans they're pulling at the fair, or more likely the ultimate conclusion they were looking for?

I'm going to guess the State Fairs insurance underwriters did not want the liability of some accidental shooting at a show, but more likely any lawsuits by victims from someone who bought a gun at a show.  

And then the State Agricultural Society that runs the Fairgrounds wasn't going to shed any tears over that.

Just speculation on my part.

I wonder if any show "producer/sponsor" has to provide some kind extra liability insurance? As part of the agreement to host events/lease fairgrounds buildings ?
