I'm planning on being there Saturday working at the VCDL booth. Usualy we meet up at the VCDL booth around 12 and then head up to the Mexico resturant for lunch. I hope you can make it out. |

I'm not going to be in town for the Richmond show. Probably healthy for my wallet. Can someone let me know if they've managed to come to an agreement with the Henrico fire marshall about powder sales there? Rumor I heard at the range was that they would allow it in the parking lot.

I was thinking about going. Can NC residents purchace guns at a VA show. Are there usually any stripped lowers there. Thanks for the info.

lonewolf, you can buy any long gun, just not handguns.
You will need two forms of ID, with the same address. #1 would be a DMV issued ID card or Driver's License #2 can be anything gov't issued with the same address, or a utilities bill, hunting license, car registration, etc. Instant background check will cost you $5.00 instead of the $2.00 for a VA resident. That's it. |

I'm sitting this one out, I think. Gas is $2 a gallon, I can order stuff and wait cheaper.

I have never been to the Richmond show. How is it in terms of AR stuff? Is it worth a 90 mile drive if you are look for lowers and decent used parts?

Until the Chantilly show, Richmond was considered the VA show to attend.
You can usually pick up R stuff at the show. Quantico Arms is usually there. Dark Sun is also there. There are others as well those just come to mind. |

Since I'm driving about 90 miles, I guess I should say it's worth it. It is definitely the best show for AR stuff, and other cool military pattern semi-autos.

We'll the show was pretty decent yesterday. I showed up at 8:00 to work at the VCDL table. I got to meet up with a few other ARFCOMers which was cool. We also signed up 10 new members for the VCDL while I was there.
The prices for things varied a lot. I picked up some new mags for a friend of mine for $15. These were new mags but no wrappers. This was the cheapest price for new GI LEO mags at the show. There were still some yahoos who wanted $25 and up for them. I also picked up 7 used mags for $8 each while I was there. These were the only ones he had, and everyone else was running $10-$15 for used mags. There were no great deals on AK mags. The LEO Glock mags were going like hotcakes at the show. Dark Sun was selling any type Glock Mag for $20. Of course they were out of the G22 and G19 mags.  I did pick up some G19 mags for $25 which was probably the average at the show. There were some selling for $30, but that was way to hi. I spoke with the guy from Dark Sun and he said they should be getting a big shipment in soon. Hopefully by December there will be more G22 mags.I will also add that the guy from Dark Sun was in a good mood and very helpful this time around. They had some good deals on new Bushmaster and RRA rifles complete with evil features. The RRA stuff was running in the mid $700s and the Bushmaster were in the mid $800s. I saw some new Olympics with the evil features for under $700. It was nice to see the new rifles on the market already. |

The show was good today. I wasn't looking to buy any guns, but was checking prices anyway. Like VA-gunnut, I also saw some good prices on ARs. Dark Sun had the best price on AKs ($289), but they were post-ban rifles without the evil bayonet lug and with welded muzzle nuts.
There were still some guys trying to sell pre-ban ARs and AKs at pre-sunset prices. I saw a M4gery for $2995 and a few AKs in the mid to upper $1K range. I can't see these prices lasting long. The pre-ban AKs might fetch a higher price for the collector that wants all foriegn parts. I did see two of the new Arsenal underfolders also - Dark Sun had one for $999 and some other guy had his for a hundred bucks more. I picked up some Slip 2000 Carbon Cutter. Has anyone here used it? What do you think about it? |

The one the other guy had was a better model. Dark Suns had a naked barrel. The other one was a near perfect clone of the Bulgarian military 7.62*39 AR-M1F. If I wasn't AK'ed out, I'd have picked it up.

I didn't run into anything spectacular. I had a good time, my dad had a good time and the kids had a good time, so I can't really complain. Beats yard work any day.
As usual, the reloading guy got most of my money. Also picked up a CQB sling for my AR from the Quantico guys (nice set up they had). |
