or is otherwise armed with a category I or category II weapon. (b) A category I weapon is a [firearm or] a knife with a blade at least 3 inches in length, dagger, dirk, switchblade knife, stiletto, or any other deadly or dangerous weapon of like character.

You have to quote the rest of the statute...that portion only applies if you 'posess or carry with the intent to use unlawfully against another', and is only used to determine the charge if another crime has been committed.

Just like the interpretations of the Good Book...You have to read the whole not break it up into pieces and parts...That's what the fanatics do....only look at the lines that work for them and ignore the rest....That is IMO where alot of LEO's and others have the wrong info regarding knives etc....
