I have an old 22 LR rifle (the first gun my Dad got me), and the front site got broken off.  Any local gunsmiths in Vegas you recommend?

I'm sure the 'smith at Bass Pro could help.

D,   Are we talking about a slotted or dovetailed bead here?  Measure the height with a micrometer and drive it out to the right and in from the right... piece of cake.

Thanks for the replies, guys.  I'll take a pic of it tonight and post it.  I can't remember what it looks like off hand.

Depending on how sentimental you are about the rifle, you can always have THESE GUYS do the work

Found the part online:

BARREL MOUNTING
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
#3 1/16" x .290 High
Model:  LYMAN
Item No. 82410
Front Sight, #3 1/16 x .290 High Gold Bead, Blue Steel 3/8 Dovetail

Now, I just need to find someone who has it.

good luck on your search! that might be a gunshow item. It's amazing what obscure stuff you can find at the 'junk' tables at gunshows.

Most places seem out of stock, but just found it at lyman.com--imagine that.

What's the right way to knock the old sight out of the dovetail?  Never done that before.

D,  A brass punch with the barrel well supported so it will not move.  Hit from the left side to the right and reverse for the install.  Somtimes a new sight is too big for the dovetail.  If so remove metal from the bottom of the sight only.  Note, this is a rare condition.  I will check and see if I have a spare of that height.

Edit to add:   .390 is all I found, sorry

Check brownells and see if they have the part or something equal to it.  Or go to gunparts, they have just about everything.
