EVENT PRE-REGISTRATION

IMPORTANT ....... IMPORTANT ....... IMPORTANT

Pre-registration for the Roasted Nutz shooting event this year is going to be very important as we have the POTENTIAL to grow quite large.  We will be using these numbers to determine what will be required for lunch preparation, putting together the Event Gift Bags, range safety personnel (RSOs), parking capacity, support personnel, you name it.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO PRE-REGISTER EVERYONE IN YOUR GROUP WHO WILL BE SHOOTING.  If you are bringing non-shooters with you, list them in the "Comments" section so they can be counted for lunch.  If you have younger children (13 or younger) coming along for the experience, and maybe pull a few triggers, awesome!  Note them in the "Comments" section so that we can arrange a patch or hat for them to remember the day.  At least everyone 14 years and up should be pre-registered if they are shooting.

Copy and paste the following text (between the ********** lines below) into an EMAIL to the "shoots_info" user account. Complete each line question. Then, DELETE the competitive shoots you DO NOT WANT TO SHOOT IN (so if you are not shooting these events, all will be deleted).  Fill in the comments with anything you want us to know and send it!

**********
IMPORTANT: Please complete this form for each person in your group attending the shoot. We use the pre-registration info to prepare the free lunch menu and to be sure we have enough event gift bags for all shooters.

Thank You for pre-registering! Be sure to sign in as soon as you arrive on Saturday to receive your free event gift bag. Sign-in begins at 7:30 AM and runs to 11:30 AM. Shooting starts at 9:00 AM. Check the Roasted Nutz INFO thread often and watch the pre-registration totals.  I'll send a reply back to you so you know your pre-registration was received OK.  That reply will also have the total $$ amount you will need at sign in to cover the $10 family range fee (If NOT a Shawano Gun Club Member) and whatever competitive shoots you have signed up for.

Any questions or concerns you can email or IM me though the "shoots_info" or "MaverickAR6" accounts.

EVENT GIFT BAGS

The first 100 shooters that sign in Saturday will receive a complimentary Event Gift Bag.  These bags contain promotional items (decals, patches, small product samples, etc.) that Shoot Sponsors have donated.  There could also be sales literature, NEW product information, discount offers, etc.  It is always fun to see what might be in the gift bags.  ARFCOM registered members have some additional items added that are exclusive to being an ARFCOM member.

NOTE: Registered Member means you have a login account on the AR15.com forum.  You DO NOT need to have a paid Team Membership to be considered a registered member.  Although, the paid Team Memberships do have their advantages... The upgraded search capabilities are a must if you spend any amount of time in the Equipment Exchange (EE).

DOOR PRIZES

As in past years, we will have door prizes drawings from the items donated by the shoot sponsors.  The door prize drawings will be held immediately after lunch on Saturday and you must be present to win.  Present means "at the event during the drawing".  If your name is called and you are in the crapper... don't come waddling out with your pants down around your ankles holding your ticket stub in the air.  We'll give ya a few minutes.  If you skipped Parruthead's totally awesome pig roast and BBQ lunch to go to McDonalds... well, you'll make someone else happy and it won't be Parruthead.

When you sign in Saturday you will get a numbered ticket for the door prize drawings.  If you are an ARFCOM Registered Member, you will get a second, different colored ticket.  Yup... there are special door prizes for ARFCOM members only... the Top Prize Rifle Package is an ARFCOM members only door prize.  In addition to that, If you are an ARFCOM Team Member (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Life) you will get a third, different colored ticket.  Yup again... there is a special door prize for ARFCOM Team Members only... the Grand Prize Rifle Package.  Hang on to all your tickets!

Check back often as these lists will be revised daily to show an up-to-date makeup as donated items are received.

PLANNED SHOOTING ACTIVITIES

General Shooting
Held on the 300 yard large bore rifle range.  We'll hold HOT range sessions pretty much straight thru both day's events, going COLD only to reset targets and for lunch.  There will be steel silhouette targets at various distances from 25 yards to 300 yards.  Target backstops at 250 yards and 300 yards.

http://i413.photobucket.com/albums/pp211/mlewens6/Roasted%20Nutz/RangeCold.jpg

Full Auto Shooting
"Machine Gun Henry" has said he'll be with us again for this year's shoot !! (If you've ever attended a Roasted Nutz Shoot in the past when Henry has attended... well, he needs no introduction).  We're setting Henry up on the Trap Range again to take advantage of the super big shooting berm.  If you have full auto fun gear...you're welcome to bring it!

Also attending this year will be Central Wisconsin Armory (CWA) who plans on bringing some pretty cool display items and possibly doing some demo shooting.  For those that are unfamiliar with CWA, they are responsible for many of the custom M2 and M3 .50 cals used by our best military units in all four branches (and quite probably some that officially don't exist).

You may have caught  bits 'n pieces of this in other threads... but we've gone ahead and decided to do something a little different this year.  In honor of a once legendary purple stuffed bear, and the local saying of "he/she can shoot the nuts off a squirrel !", we've decided to do just that.

Since the little buggers are too quick to catch by hand and too damn smart too be trained to sit still on a perch in the middle of the range anyway (squirrels also bite trainers, by the way) we've done the next best thing.  Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning there will be a squirrel target placed at the 150 yrd target line with the remote cameras trained on it.  Hanging from the squirrel will be two golf balls on a string.  Yup, for $2.00/shot you can see if you can "Shoot the Nuts Off A Squirrel".  This will be a 50/50 style shoot.  Hit the nuts, you get half the pot.  Old Glory Honor Flight gets the other half.  We'll do multiple runs and the winners, if still around Sunday, will have a quick shoot-off to determine the champion.  The champion takes home the first ever "Roasted Nutz Traveling Trophy" (damn ugly thing) and have their name added to it for future generations to admire.  This also means you are expected to return next year because you have the trophy.

Gun used for the shoot will be an AR15, obviously (unless you can do it with some other type of gun, even a pistol... dare ya!).  No bench shooting, no bipods, no sandbags, no scopes, no magnified red dots... only irons or unmagnified red dots allowed.  Also, to make it a little more interesting, we have a barricade wall that is used for our pistol league that you will be shooting from behind.  One hand must be on the wall at all times. Your skill, a basic rifle and a somewhat stable hand support.  No registration required.

Are there going to be changes this year. Is all the input being considered that was talked about after RN3?

I'd like to hear about what changes are being made this year, given the vast amounts of input after the last one. Does that thread still exist?

Damn skippy I'll be there again this year, and maybe I'll remember to bring the .223 with me...and not buy a boat...

There will be a bunch of changes for this year.  So far I can tell you pretty much for sure....

A) Registration will be done electronically (web-based) so all you have to do on shoot day is stick your head in
the door, check name off list, get wristband, get goodie bad & shoot info packet (including all drawing tickets except raffle).

B) You will be able to move freely between ranges with guns in last year's "cleared condition" and within tapped off corridors.

C) There will be a base fee to cover the cost of lunch with the remainder going towards Old Glory Honor Flight (this would
be part of registration/wristbands)

D) Safety meeting... 15 minutes tops, I promise!  There will be additional shoot staff this year and primary emergency
procedure/personnel will be all prearranged within staff.

E) More dueling tree shoots!

F) We'll have someone drawing general door prizes all day and announcing winners over the PA system, saving the Grand prize
and Team Member prizes for lunch.  Also, any rifle or rifle packages will be "all eligible tickets in" drawings.  Maybe drawn first.
Idea is to shorten the door prize drawing time so we can either get more sponsor involvement and/or more shooting in.

We learned quite a bit last year and plan on putting that to practice this year.  I just hope the SIC bastard (Scrotum-In-Charge) in DC
allows us to even make a shoot worthwhile this year!

Love the changes!! but not sure you should skimp on the safety meeting.

I have a couple more ideas for simple changes that would help out!!
If you want them of course.

Hell yes!  There's been a thread created for them.  Post them there 'cause this thread might be gone soon.
(NOT the one with the red background...that's the info thread.  There's another one titled "comments & questions"
