(DE calender says carbine/handgun,as opposed to the other alumni training dates which specify handgun,registration page is different).I guess an email to DE would clarify,but since I have both courses and I travel with both weapons I'll be ready for anything.

I need finalize my travel arrangements by Tuesday Aug,2 .If no-one's on board I'll most likely head up North a couple days early and do some touring.

This Alumni training session is both carbine and handgun.  Alumni training sessions are short range sessions that are topic specific, and are designed to get Alumni a chance to practice and build upon some of the skills that thay have already been given.  We usually will cover specific applications of some of the fundamentals.  Expect to shoot about 300rds through each weapon system.  Expect to work hard with little down time and lots of trigger work.  Alumni training is usually skill specific and more physically demanding.      This course will start promptly at 0800hrs and run until about 1300hrs or so.

Great training session!!!My arms are hurtin alittle today.

The one handed/weak handed weapons training was an EYE opener.We started with pistol,drawing by the numbers two handed,,,getting our basics squared away,then worked one handed in various stances.We added IA drills then added reloads,and then practiced the whole routine weak handed.Dummy rounds are your friend while training.We basically did the same routine shooting carbine and got a little extra 'knee' work engaging targets @ 270 degrees learning pivoting techique while kneeling.

I built my AR heavy,it's really an MBR setup waiting to get converted to 6.8 SPC....I need to get Clean's carbine built so I have something alittle lighter to train with.
We trained till past 1400 with little down time.My arms were fading after all the one handed carbine work.

I consider the class an extra success for pointing out a couple of gear issues..nothing that hindered me in class but I see some changes in my layout after working weak handed with both the pistol and carbine.I have a couple(at least one,slow as I am) of gear innovations  to work out before my next session.

The one handed training will come in handy for myself next week.I managed to make the whole trip and training with out an injury till I got home and went fishing in my bag for my house keys.It happened that one of my blades opened(a third gear adjustment I need to make )and I sliced my middle fingertip pad real nice.Steri-strip and superglue time.If it's not healed up I'll have to do the refresher training left-handed(a fourth gear adjustment...gotta pick up a lefty holster).

I think these 1-day training sessions are just right,tho traveling to Princeton is a stretch for one person,,,luckily I had a real cush flop in the Twin cities.I have alot to look forward to at the end of the month,and I mean alot of WORK.

I am going to talk to Sully,and throw out the idea here,about setting up a series of one day advanced classes locally.It would work out well cause those that wanted to stay and camp over could get an extra day of practice or  refresher in(if a class was scheduled for a Sunday we could run a refresher Saturday to prep.Advanced classes are smaller and cost more but IF it could be scheduled out I think it could be a cost effective way to build up a skill set .At $125 early reg. fee for a full day course it isn't as much of a financial bite,I think it(1-day trainings)would build better retention.There is so much to absorb I'm already wondering how much I forgot from yesterday's half day of training.

ETA,I did suffer one equipment hiccup,I broke off the fromnt sight on my Glock 17.I'm pretty sure it happend while drawing weak handed,when I pivoted my pistol around in it's holster.The front sight would hit my plastic insert inside the holster so I think that's what busted it off.Easily repaired on site,luckily I noitced the sight off before I ground it into the dirt and found it at my feet.
