So, I'm teaching today.  It's a lesson about new orleans before and after Katrina focusing on the polar differences between the partying atmosphere of Mardis Gras and the terrors of Katrina.  In the part where the kids were discussing what "should've" been done, they got very animated and angry, and I actually started DEFENDING Bush.  dammit to hell, you all suck.

Old enough to have an opinion,  but not old enough to have a useful one.
I wish I could return to 18 so I could know it all again.  It's amazing how much knowledge is lost in 20 years.

Maybe this would be a good time to introduce them to the idea of Posse Comitatus, so they have a few facts while they watch the Leftist media blame the President for not invading Louisiana when the Governor wouldn't invite him in--

Doesn't that suck, when rational thought and reasoning take over your brain?

I have to admit, it is rational.  And the kids were coming off to me as a bunch of loons

10 to 1 that her kindergarden class has a better grasp on politics than the dummycratic party does.

99.9 percent of the time we don't talk about politics or current events in my class, and I know very well how it feels to earn my money, have for a long time, thanks for your concern.

Funny thing. Common conception among us nasty mean conservatives is thats all you do is indocturnate kids with liberal ideology all day long. Kumbaya marathons.

At 17 and 18 yes they can have an opinion; if they're working and contributiing to society, not have their parents handing everything to them.

Is it a BAD thing to say something that makes sense?  Crazy thing how people don't always have to agree a party line such as "Bush Sucks".

I would think a battle of wits against largely unarmed opponents shouldn't be that hard. If the ones your teaching are anything like the ones in my neighborhood. Although I still haven't figured out the whole "gotta' hold your pants up because their ten sizes too big" thing so it could just be me too.

And before you get 'em in a bunch, not all the teenagers I've meet in the last 10 years or so have been idiots. Most of 'em, but I've meet some very bright young men and women too.

gunchyck, are you in a public or private school. One of these ARF mooks called me a "monster" for having my daughter in public school, or as he put it "liberal socialist brainwashing centers" or some such B.S.

I teach public school.  The only difference in the teachers is that private school:

1) Pays teachers significantly less.
2) Teachers do not have to be state-certified to teach, so they generally have less training.

If I hadn't gotten a job in public schools, I would've started looking at private schools .  Though it is less money the class sizes are about 15 or less and therefore easier to teach.

All three of mine are in public school.  It's the only thing I can afford.
