My youngest started a new job last month in Tucson. He has an appartment North of Tucson, about 1/2hr or so, in Oro Valley. He doesn't have an account on arfcom, so I thought I would start a thread asking for suggestions on where he can go shoot.
He doesn't want to shoot at indoor ranges. He said there are a couple in downtown Tucson. He would rather be able to go out to an area he can set up a few targets and shoot his AR and a few other guns. I think he'd like to be able to drive out into the hills , but The Tucson Rifle Club doesn't sound too terrible.  He lives right off of 77. Anyone have any advice or directions I can pass on to him? Thanks in advance! |

For right now nowhere on public land til fire restrictions are lifted.

Pima Pistol Club is in the oro valley area.
It has public pistol and rifle ranges (100 yd) and hosts matches on the weekend. I think its 20 bucks to get in if you aren't a member. I'd avoid the indoor ranges. I haven't been to them in years but my memory is they are in sketchy areas and they are poorly maintained and very poorly ventilated |

He can shoot at Pima Pistol club, 13990 N. Lago Del Oro Pkwy, Oro Valley -520-825-3603. It's open to the public, Pretty good place to shoot, it's outdoors so go early. Indoors there is Marksman II, 1280 W. Prince Rd. Tucson,520-293-1665. It's about 20 min from Oro Valley. They are pistol only.

Pima is where I'd go if I lived in the Tucson area.
If he joins and gets access to the action/pistol bays its fun range. |

I sent you a PM with places to shoot in the desert.
For ranges, Pima Pistol Club will be closest (probably 10-15 minutes from the sound of it). It's decent and hosts a bunch of matches including a monthly 2 gun match that is pretty fun. The rifle distance at Pima Pistol Club is pretty limited though (200 yards). Tucson Rifle Club is about 45-60 minutes away. It has a a rifle bay that goes out to about 550 yards, with steel silhouettes already set up at various distances. There are several other ranges there too, including a known distance range that goes out to 1000 yards. |

Plus if you shoot a match at Pima Pistol Club there is a chance you will end up in the background of a Forgotten Weapons or Inrange video and get your 15 minutes of internet fame
