Greetings from Chandler, Arizona.

Does anyone know where in the Phx area I could get some good 223 ammo??   Like 3131 stuff??  I'm looking for someplace I can drive to to pickup bulk ammo.   I know about J&G up in Prescot.  In fact they just ran out of that SA PNP stuff I bought last time.  I want to be able to just drive down and pick it up.

What is the consensus on the Winchester white box 40 round value pack 223 that Walmart has??

Any ideas anyone??

I've never bought ammo at a gun show.  Do they usually have good stuff at reasonable prices??

A 1000 rounds, say, of 3131 would go for what??

$180??

$200??

what do you watch for and watch out for???

The white box wally world stuff is not bad, I use that when I run out of the PMP and S&B stuff. I have shot like 500 rounds or so through my RR M16 with no problems. Very clean burning, that stuff will get you by until you can hit a gun show. I get stuff from J&G when they come down to the show, 1k of the PMP and S&B is in the $150 ballpark plus tax.

Miwall has good prices on ammo at the gun shows! Thats why I go! If I remember right I paid about $170 for .223, but their prices vary and depends what ammo you want! I highly recommend the show for bulk ammo buys!

I agree.  Miwall has great deals.  I bought 500 rounds of federal Lake City for around $85.00.  I also bought some other stuff so my total came to $135.00.  They only charged me $3.45 in tax.  Pretty sweet.

Okay, take it from a professional wimp.  They don't have shopping carts there.  If you are going to get a case of ammo, make it your last purchase and/or bring some kind of carrier.  Read: 32+ lbs.  You don't want to be carrying it around while you are looking at the other great stuff and it can be a very long walk back to the vehicle (especially if you get there late).  Also, look to the top of this thread for coupons to save a bit on entry www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=8&f=13&t=167638.  Other than that, I have always found more than I was looking for and it has always been good.  Dan

If you cant till the show the first of Dec.  Then order some from here,
http://www.dealerease.net/catalog/subcategory.asp?scid=11&ret_id=373508

Pretty dang good deal on XM193, $74.75 per 500 + shipping. I think shipping when i checked was $13.00.

Because as far as i know nobody here in town has a good price on it.I  will not pay the prices the local stores sell it for.  I really wish that J&G or Miwall would open up a store here in the valley.  HINT HINT.

J&G Sales used to have a store opened on Price and Baseline around 1994 or 1995. It was only opened for a few months, no idea why they closed it.

The construction on the 101 freeway and baseline road restricted access to the store, and sales never really took off. So after a few months, they packed up and went back to Prescott.

Sportsmans Warehouse has Wolf 2.99/20 Ultramax reloads 11.99/50 and I think the white box stuff is 3.50/20

Been there, done that, more than once, good advice.  See the post by EX11B for info on the shipping.  They (UPS) allways leave it on my doorstep for me.
