I'm looking for someone who reloads close to me. I live about 15 minutes away from Millers campground. I need to kind of see how to reload so I know what I'm getting into. I'm kind of looking for a mentor. Can anyone help me out.

Just get one of the reloading manuals, as they go all through it. I was new to reloading and that's how I learned.

The gentleman at Gander Mountain gave me the run down on what you'll need. A good set of calipers, decent scale(you'll learn nothing is truly drop and go when dealing with anything firearm related) dies, lube and or lube pad, bullet puller, press, trimmer, and most importantly a good reloading manual. The gentleman at Rapid fire in Troy is also very helpful.
I picked a a used one off the this board, so far so good, over 2000 rounds. A single stage is great for starters, a rotating turret press is also good is if you have the patience to set it up. I keep receipts for everything I've bought so I'll post the cost later. I would not suggest getting into it to reload 500 rounds a year. |

I reload shot shells like a fiend.....
At least I used to when I was shooting trap weekly. But loading shot shells is not as exact and precise as with cartridges. You can be really sloppy with shot shells.

I'm in Troy and I reload all my rifle (223 & 260 Rem, 6.5X55, 30-06) and shotgun ammo.

Dont waste your money on anything less than a Dillon if you go progressive. Last weekend I loaded 600 9mms in less than 2 hours on my Dillon 550b Dillons are known for their consintancy and reliability. Dillons NO BS warranty is a plus too although I have never had to use it. I know someone who has and the parts arrived within the week from Arizona no questions asked no cost. Now that is service! try to get that from RCBS or LEE .

Hornady's LockNLoad is everybit the press that Dillon is, is a tad cheaper, is easier and faster to switch calibers, and is as automated as the Dillon 650 for less than the Dillon 550. Their customer service is also outstanding. Dillon makes a fine press, but they are not the only game in town, just the most popular. |

kevin the dillon 550b is a good press and you can buy a video on how to set it up and run it. wideners 1-800-615-3006 has british radway green 223 for $133.00 a can. not a bad deal.

I am looking to get into reloading.
KevinR, I have some (maybe 400rds) 9mm brass if you need some to start out. And where is Millers Campground at? I mapquested it but couldn't find it. Anyone else, I'll trade .40/.45 brass for my once shot 9mm. It was range pickups when I was out with my two friends with 9mms. SBR7_11 and SWO_Daddy, I might need to come up and check out your setups, if you don't mind. |

I only have 223 brass but come to the millers shoot April 15th and im sure you will get a few truck loads of brass SWO daddy do you live close to millers I to would like to see your reloading set up. Hell I help you reload for free you just need to teach me.

Sometimes popularity has a reason behind it . Dillon is known for reliability and concistancy. They may not be the only game in town however they are the only game I am willing to play.

I would like to get into reloading for the k31, I have done a little homework on it, and heard you can use standard .308 bullets as long as you use the 7.5x55 casings. But, I should have no problem learning how to reload, the only thing im concerned about is how much does the equipment cost that you need to buy to reload?

Honestly, if you aren't going to reload a large volume of ammo and want to see if you want to reload on a regular basis, you can get a Lee Anniversary kit for ~$70. It has everything you need to get stared, minus dies. I'd be an inexpensive way to get your feet wet and help you decide if you want to spend more on reloading gear. |
