I read on another thread here that if someone moves to California they have to register their PISTOLS; is that the case?

There are only two ways to have an unregistered pistol here legally:

1. Have owned it since before 1968, or

2. Build it yourself.

Yes I am sure but I'm not a lawyer.  Don't take my word for it.  I don't recall any "grace period" or forms or any requirement to register pistols owned before 1968.  That was a long time ago.
