Mount that came with the Zenith and a UTG quick detach mount. Gets it high enough for a clear sight picture. I tried the cowitness setup but the sight picture was too busy for me.

I'm using MFI low profile mounts from hkparts.net along with Holosun red dots.  I originally had MRO's but they were too big and didn't look right on an MP5 clone.

I like the B&T 21241 mount + Micro clone on the Aimpoint low mount.  This B&T mount is longer than the 10266.  It gave me more room to charge/slap with a K gun.  Also figured out I could use a picatinny brass catcher mount.

Another new-ish option are the Battlesteel direct mounts for the Micros and MRO.  I have the MRO one but have never tried it out, waiting to get a full size MP5 before I mess with it.

Yes the MRO might not look correct on the MP5K but it was really nice having a little more flexibility in head position.  That said, I took it off and use a Micro clone.

FYI - Just saw Primary Arms has their 30mm Aimpoint Pro Clone - BLEM - on sale for $79.99 shipped.  Both Black and FDE.

The blem part is the nightvision settings are too bright... so if you have $2000 NODs and need a cheap optic, these blems wont work.

Combine these with the Vortex 30mm low mount ($19 shipped on ebay) and you will have the classic absolute co-witness setup for $99.  I cannot vouch for these optics and if I had ~$340 I would buy a used Aimpoint Pro.  So far though, the newer generation of cheap red dots seem to work well enough.

Is anyone running an Aimpoint Comp M5 on their MP5?  My KAC RAS should be arriving any day and I need to settle on an optic for my MP5 and although I realize that something smaller like a T1 would save some weight and bulk I am trying to stay away from the coin cell batteries if possible.  Just wondering if anyone is running the M5 and could provide firsthand experience.

The Comp M5 is micro sized. It uses micro mounts but is AAA powered. Lots of Win!!!

Based on the numbers, it won't be as low as a micro on the non-QD Aimpoint mount. It is 20mm while the micro H or T, with the original mount is 18mm.

So not sure what happens if you buy a M5 and use the older mounts.

I have tried using the Aimpoint LRP (also rated at 20mm) and it bumps the dot very close to the hood with a low B&T mount (21241 or 10266). I didn't realize it was higher and went back to the standard Aimpoint low mount.

Is the KAC picatinny optics mount lower than the B&T low mount?

This is precisely why I think I'm going with the M5.  Over time and with the exception of my IR lasers I've streamlined my gear to run exclusively run on AA and AAA cells and utilize Eneloop rechargeables.  I'm not concerned with cowitnessing with the iron sights on my MP5 so I'm going with the KAC railed base that mounts to the RAS.  From there I'll probably just go with Larue's mount or something similar.

Looking at adding an RMR to my new 5P, anyone have a recommendation on which model/dot and mounts.

Thinking the rear sight swap.
