What is the recoil and muzzle blast like, and what is the actual length of the barrel.

Also is this a toy or a real tool at the end of the day?

Pretty much a range toy. I can't speak on the semi only 51 clones, but the HK 51 full auto I shot with the factory collapsible stock was a blast to shoot. It was surprisingly controllable, and I was able to get off controlled pairs. Mag dumps were a different story. Loud as hell with plenty of muzzle flash in broad daylight. I can't see a practical application for this weapon, but I wouldn't mind owning one for sheer entertainment.

My humble little 51k(Thank you Nohair for your help!)
Also needs to be refinished.

Oh and yes, the barrel is chopped even with the front edge of the triplefame.

Wow, does anyone make a semi auto HK21 reciever?  How the hell did you do that.

And where can you get real HK 30 rounders from, link?

All those beltfeds ARE semi auto receivers.

It's the registered sear that makes the difference.

Here's some videos of the shooting today....

The vids don't do the experience justice.  Every time a round goes off, there's a tremendous blast and fireball.  The camera doesn't pick up the fireball every time, and when it does, it's much smaller on the vid than in real life.

Quite an experience.  THANKS NOHAIR!!!

Youtube is still processing the vids.  They'll be ready tomorrow morning probably.  I think the links are good.  I'll check tomorrow and if I need to fix anything, I will.

FYI, you can find a lot of good MG vids by going to youtube and searching for "Gorgegunners"....

Its funny, whenever I see that pic of me shooting Nohairs 51, its hard to believe that the night before it was raining sideways and destroyed a brand new tent!

Crazy weekend that was!

Sorry for the video delays/screwups.  Youtube 'processes' the vids for over 12 hours sometimes on the weekends.

I hosted a few on Putfile.  I don't like Putfile as much- you might have to stop the vid, let it fully load, then play it, otherwise it might studder, etc.

Notice not only the flash, but the impact downrange.  We're probably 60-70 yards downrange.Video #1

Here's another video the 30rd mags are definitely the ticket.  I have a 40rd mag, but didn't have it out yesterday.

How do they make those extended mags?  Looks like 2 HK steels welded together but what do you do for a spring?
Link Posted: 2/18/2007 12:08:31 PM EDT

They just come that way.

HK made some 30 rounders, as did RDTS, et al.

There were some factory CETME 30 rounders also, very cool.  Wish I could get a few of those.

I don't know who made my 40 rounder or what they did for the springs.

Some guys braze the springs together, some 'crimp' them together.

The mag shown below is three 20s welded together and holds 44rds and, it runs flawlessly. Many thanks to BustOff.

Could you just weld the springs together?  Also are they reliable or just a jamomatic?  How many rounds can you get in 2 welded steel 20s?

You could always roll your own springs. I wouldn't see why the 20rd springs wouldn't work for a little while.

On a related note, anyone know where to get the 20rd CETME mags cheap?  These would make excellent donor mags for 30rders since they are curved.

If anyone wants any I can get Cetme "30" round mags, for $50 shipped to your door. If you want any just PM me, keep in mind it will take about two weeks for them to get to you.

Here's another Video.  There's a fireball with every shot but the camera doesn't pick them all up.  Also, you don't see the ring of fire in real life, but the cam picks that up.
