as HK afficianados, I'm guessing you've seen the 770 take off barrel/receivers that have come up for sale.

I've asked the individual selling the barrels why these take-offs exist, but he didn't know.

I'm  wondering if anyone here has a long enough knowledge of the history of these rifles to know if these guns ever had some sort of known issue that would have caused a lot of barrel/receiver replacements.

I'm hoping someone here or at HKpro might know (although it's probably the same group of people) :)
