My fiance gave me my gift early this year. It's a new digicam and thought I'd show the wood stocks I received from www.robertrtg.com/home.html . I refinished them with boiled linseed oil. They turned out great.
These were hand select and didn't really look bad but I just had to refinish them knowing what they could look like. Here's what they looked like before.

Fantastic finish!. Did you sand them first or just treat them with the linseed oil?

Wow!....I thought the wood set I had looked good, but yours are truly nice. I like those very much. Good score! Did your strip the old finish? The BLO really didn't darken them at all. I like the lighter shade.

Thanks all, yes I lightly sanded them with 220 grit paper. The paper will clog and need to be rotated often. It takes awhile but they come clean nicely. I also used the wet rag/electric pencil trick on the dings. Most of the dings are gone but some of the deeper ones are just visible. The deeper ones are bruised and should be filled but I just couldn't do that to them. You can hardly feel the deep dings and they show character. Just waiting on my grip www.dsarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=FHKG3&storeid=1&image=hkg3grip.jpg Hope they match. If not, I can fix that.
