Is commercial .308 too hot? What surplus ammo is safe for use in these rifles?
I've had the bolt lock up several times and now i'm a little nervous about what I shoot.

Thanks,
Smiley

It is not recommended to fire commercial .308 ammo through rifles with fluted chambers such as the CETME. The brass in commercial .308 ammo is softer than brass in military loaded 7.62x51 ammo. The softer brass tends to deform more into the flutes and can disrupt proper extraction.
Of the surplus 7.62x51 ammo, some CAVIM (Argentina) ammo leaves quite a bit of sticky deposits in the chamber upon firing, and this can also lead to extraction failures.
