So I have seen these references to FALs made in Belgium by FN for Rhodesia that had a Rhodesian crest on it. I have watched a couple of videos from Larry Vickers talking about the said crest. However I've not been able to find any images of this crest with the exception of from his videos.

I have found several other types of Rhodesian crests, but not one like the one above.

I would love to have a clear image or even artwork of this. Has anybody seen this?

It’s a South African crest, not Rhodesian. Watch the Vickers videos again. He talks about the crests being removed (sanitized) when SA sent FALs to Rhodesia.

Damn it you're right. That's what I get for not paying attention after a 10-hour day. Thanks I appreciate it

Yup.  South African 1st and 2nd Contract rifles and FALOs would have had the South African arms on the magazine well, but it often (but certainly not always) was cut out, although often small bits of it would remain along the edges of the cut.  Arms of others countries would often be cut out similarly as well.

South Africa's own production lacked the arms, and they eventually made a variant with minimal markings so that there would be no need for sanitizing (just serials and proof marks).

I had this laser engraving done on a R1 parts build. The lower was sanitized of the UM  marking by the receiver locking lever.

Now that's awesome!

@Brad8e

You don't still happen to have the image file for that do you?

I don't, should be able to Google image a period correct SA crest.

I suspect that the parts kits with defaced UM markings on the various parts likely also had the SA arms removed from the mag well.  Likewise, I suspect that those that have the UM markings intact likely also had the SA arms left in place on the mag well.
