i'm new to FALs and .308 in general.  I know SA is good to go, but what else is a good buy ammo wise, and is safe.  if it's crappy like wolf and doest fire or is dirty, thats one thing, but i dont want stuff like Indian blowing my gun up. so lemme know about suplus ammo!

I've heard nothing but good stuff about the Port.

Put a lot of Port through my DSA, with no problems whatsoever. Some of the best surplus .308 around.....while it lasts. Get it while you can.

I have some linked Port. I had to turn the gas regulator down, as the stuff is machinegun ammo, but it shoots just fine. It's really clean to boot.

so, would 69.99 be a good price for 300 rounds of linked ball ammo?

21boom,

I'd consider that pricehigh  in comparison to the SA surplus - 960 rds for $175 in a can.  Plus shipping which is $25 fm AIM in Ohio to me.

thats what i was wondering, it's about 10 bucks higher per 140, and i dont know if the betterness of Port would justify that price.  i mean, they could be heat/terrorist seeking exploding frangible babyproof bullets.

Wolf .308 is actually cleaner than the tar sealed SA surplus and it shoots just as well.

If you can find it get the Port, I purchased 10k rounds some years back and I'm down to 6k now...never a hiccup, very clean and accurate.

There are disturbing reports on the falfiles about Wolf .308 piercing primers, case seperations, and resultant damage to rifles.

To tell the truth, I'm very reluctant to shoot any of the stuff that I've bought.
