HEY!

That looks just like the Socom that  followed me home last weekend.
I hope you enjoy it, they are fun!

I did the camo job on this one myself. (It's kind of hard to see from this far away)

Nice gun.

To me a M14/M1A doesn't look quite right with a shorter barrel than the factory 22".  Maybe I'm just too used to the standard rifle.

Stick some wood on it and it will look fine after that...

I just ordered a bunch of surplus mags from Midway since I had to get a few other things.
$12.99 each till Sept 30th
ETA: oh crap I read the reviews all the way down the list and some said it was junk. I hope I get the good ones and not the crap

Nice rifles, gents! if I were going to get another (I had one and traded it ) M1A, it'd have to be the SOCOM version; I'd probably end up stickin' a wood stock on it, though.

So why did SA toss a tritium front sight on my SOCOM
I don't even know if I'm looking thru the rear sight or not when it's dark enough to see the glow

That struck me as odd also, Two.
I wonder who they source the fronts from, and if a rear tritium is available?

The M14/M1A is, IMO, the best-looking rifle ever.

Join www.photobucket.com.   I did it, it's easy, free, and they don't use your email address for anything.

Can anyone who has shot one of these report on if it's possible to shoot without hearing protection?

I had a Standard with a Muzzlebreak that made my ears ring the one shot I took without hearing protection outdoors.  I was handling one of these in the store and though cool,  I was thinking they'll cause destructive hearing loss within a few shots.  I replaced my muzzlebreak with a flash hider and shooting without hearing protection is more tolerable, though I wear earplugs 99.9999% of the time.

That's odd.  Night sights, but no flash hider like on the scout rifles.

The one I was looking at had several dozen, pencil lead thickness holes drilled
all along the top half,  right near the end of the muzzle.

My concern is they will noticeably increase the noise of the blast, just as the
muzzle brake does.
