Does anyone use one of these with commercially factory loaded ammo in their Garand? What results have you had? Will it protect the rifle from damage with these loads?

I have one made by McCann Machine which uses 5 discrete sized ports in Allen screws. I've never used it for commercial ammo nor am I sure how the Schuster version keeps its port setting from changing.
On either model you'll have to experiment with which size port you use. Mine was on a T26 (M1 Tanker) which would otherwise rip the rims of cartridges when extracting. -- Chuck |

Such a device would seem a useful item for SHTF scenarios wherin the user was forced to use non-milspec ammo.
Nnot a bad idea to acquire such units for both M1s and M1As if you believe in the possibility of a SHTF scenario. |

I wouldn't be shooting a lot of commercial stuff through it, but maybe take it out once or twice during deer season.
