Anyone making F1 Shotgun stuff?

Designing another shotgun one now.
It's going to be a 16ga modular, like a Salvo.

Now that I have been bitten by the NFA F1 bug, I would really like to find a kit for shotguns so I can have a shotty can while I buy and wait for a F4.

How overbore are you doing it?

Not much.
The last 2 I did (just round tube w/ 60* baffles) I tapered the cone entry, to keep the wad closed. I got the idea from another builder (I know he has an account here).

The plan for this current one is to mill the modular sections from Al.
They'll have a hole bored to accept a SS cone baffle.
This is going to be an interference fit which I may end-up staking in-place.

I'm debating whether to traditionally single clip (on the top of the baffle to force the crossjet into the lower cavity) or going w/ the single port (like Doug Olson's design that Griffin calls the eco-flow).

I've been thinking of making an integral F1 silencer for a .410 pump shotgun.
I'd use it for pest control.

@hdhogman
If you switch to a single shot (break action) you'd be able to build a fully integral and really quiet it down. The pump just doesn't let you get a long enough suppressor. If the threads weren't removed, I'd link you to a great silencertalk build of this exact design. In the end, he wound up w/ a full integral, which incorporated a 6"ish set of baffles on the muzzle end. The porting was quite extensive and IIRC even had a section of brass rivets, close to the chamber end.

Thanks, and I do remember the thread that you mentioned.
A single shot would be much more efficient, that is the purpose.
Thanks for the memory jog and info.

Hmm, I have a limited edition NEF break action 410, wonder how hard it would be to make an integral

Here's the build I was referencing before. The one w/ the tapered baffle entrance.

So, the thread I mentioned, from ST, was pretty detailed.
I found it, but all info from the OP has been scrubbed ( I think he went into business making them)

Video of guys 20ga that made the 12ga, w/ the tapered bores. (couldn't find a build thread on this one)

I believe his username, here, is something like @BCJGunner

Thanks for posting the video,  the .410  sounded very quiet.

@User55645

Do you have any pics?  Is a shotgun suppressor completely different than a bullet one? How do you keep the wad from opening?

@ggllggll
I've been slow to start designing this new one.
As stated, the baffle(s)'s bore is tapered, to keep the wad closed. The bore entrance is a bit larger than the exit.
In a traditional "bullet" suppressor, you'd have a straight bore.

There are plenty of other ways to do it, they're just not as efficient. Something like a perforated tube, surrounded by packing material, has been used.

So is there actual contact between the baffles and the wad?

Interesting.  I figured most shot suppressors would be of the perf type.  Maybe just a barrel that is ported the whole length with a shroud around that?

Yes, there is contact, in this specific design. Same for the Salvo, w/ the rods to keep the wad from opening.

As far as this:
Maybe just a barrel that is ported the whole length with a shroud around that?

That's been done as well.

However, the muzzle forward baffles do much more than just porting and wrapping, alone.

^That's similar to what I had planned.
