Got a Tavor 7 on the way; wanting to do a LPVO for it, word is that Tavors need a higher scope mount due to the rail being on the same plane as the cheek rest.  

Quick detach still considered to be must-have nowadays?  What have you used?

Came for the Tavor, not knowing it was a 7.

But I zero' d my SAR's EOTECH and it is low! I haven't fired it in over a year so there was some breakin required of me but I got it in five shots.

I think I prefer gearhead work's raised rail but they don't make a Tavor 7 model yet that I'm aware of.

I like 1.5” on ARs just fine. I can even use a 1.375” scope mount with ease if I’m prone and snuggled into a good cheek weld.


I tried a 1.44” (Warne 217LM QD) on my Tavor7 and couldn’t cheek weld comfortably enough to get rid of the scope shadow.  A 1.5” on my Tavor7 gives me scope shadow unless I jam my head down hard.  I don’t like it for speed, but it’s workable if I really get into it.  I switched to some 1.54” Vortex Pro Series 30mm rings and now I can get a clean view without much effort. I would consider 1.54” a minimum acceptable for me and the Tavor 7

I think something like 1.7” (around lower-1/3) might work very nicely. I haven’t found any mounts I like and I’m hesitant to go all the way to a 1.93” LPVO mount because the height over bore is already pretty high on the Tavor7.

I kind of want to switch to a TA11 with piggybacked RMR.
