I love everything about my E4 except the length of the top rail.  Since I do not run BUIS on this gun the top rail was longer then I wanted it to be.  I didn't like the looks of the waisted realestate so I decided to chop it down.  A hacksaw, couple of files, sandpaper, masking tape and Krylon was all I needed as well as an hour of my time.  Not saving any real weight since the entire rail is so light to begin with but it is now much more pleasing to the eye.  After trying four different optics I settled on the Trijicon Accupoint 1x-4x.  I don't plan on selling this gun but if I ever did then I guess I would just buy another top rail before selling.  The scope mount is made by JP Rifles and has flush mounted hardware so nothing sticks out.  The height is also perfect and resembles the basic lines of the original AUG optic.

I may get one of Manticore's new Talon-30's when they are available but until then here is what I am using,

I like it, I really like the look of the 5" STG rail too.  Not that many people use them though, I guess.  Good work!

I think the rail came out to be something like 6.25"

They are called "Cat Tails"

I checked one out for my DMS-1 and it's like $70. I will hold off for now on it.

They are called "cat tails" and they are pricy at $70 but I find it well worth the money.  The have a precision fit and make changing magnification very quick and easy without looking or changing your shooting stance.  I have a new one for the Burris XTR-14 that I no longer need and will sell it at a good price.
