Anyone tried this combo? I ran some through my HCS MK12 Mod 1 today in a pouring rain and thunderstorms and got some really impressive groups at 100yds-200yds all groups were well under MOA and the best 5 shot group was right at 1/2 moa at 100yds. Didnt get the chrono out as I dont think its flood proof but I'm anxious to check the velosity and see where I'm at. The closest I've gotten to duplicating the MK262 has been using Ramshot TAC and even then I'm at 2690, I need to find another 60fps?

I'm open to suggestions?

Just curious, why the concern over 60fps?  I've only run N135 with 77gr bullets and it didn't do as well.  I see better groups with the N140.  I don't know what your charge weight is, but you'd probably have to be loading around 24.5 or better.

edit:  Looks like you might have a good shot at your velocity goal with N540.

I've run VV-140 with the Hornady 75gr AMAX/HPBT and had good results.

I don't see why you can't run the 77gr SMKs with this fine, albeit spendy, powder.

You may find even better results going to N540.

That's sort of the way I view this - if I'm going to shoot VV gunpowder in an AR, I'll use the N5XX series.

Sir, FWIW I've been shooting moly coated 77gr SMKs with VV N540 at over 2800fps for quite a few years.  I tried N140 based on recommendations from a fellow competitor but found I could get higher velocities and smaller groups with equivalent pressures using N540.  Besides my gunsmith recommended it!  HTH, 7zero1.

I tried to clone Mk262 with TAC and 77gr SMK.  My approximate load was 24.6gr TAC.  Equivalent velocity and accuracy (Mk262 shoots about 2 MOA in my Mk12 mod0––Douglas SS barrel, CLE profiled/chambered, Wylde chamber).  I find much better accuracy when I back the velocity down to around 2650 fps.  Best accuracy I've had was 24.0gr TAC/77gr SMK.  Just a bit better than 75gr TAP FPD.
