Dont have Varget or Tac on hand ,,,,Ionly have R15 or AA2520.

Looking around today the best I could find is a load using 25 grain R15 for the Barnes triple X 62 grain.
Any other comments, I am going to try a ladder test to find a load between 23.5 and 25 grain using this combination for my hunting uses, hog and Deer. Any other experience? |

I use 25gr RL15 for the 62gr TSX. That load is compressed just a bit to get the OAL to mag length. Start where you want, but I would back off anything I find on the net. Good Luck!

Of course to back off the 25 grain load. Down 10% (2.5), .5 grain step to 25 then a few in .3 grain increment to ladder test for the best repeatable load. Ready for a range day tomorrow. |

Here's the data from the Barnes manual. I collected this last week when I was contemplating buying a box of 62 and 70 grain TSX bullets.
.223 Rem data for ReLoder 15 gunpowder - 62 grain TSX bullets Minimum: 23.5 grains for 2876 fps Maximum: 25.5 gr for 3066 fps 70 grain TSX bullets Minimum: 22.5 grains for 2706 fps Maximum: 24.5 gr for 2915 fps |

Do you guys think I could deer hunt with the .223 70gr TSX? I have 200 of them and a few #'s of Varget (getting some RL15 tomorrow) but havent worked up any loads yet since I wasnt sure and have been testing the 85gr TSX in my 6.8SPC with good results.

I loaded 25 of the 70gr TSX this evening with H4895(showed most accurate in the Barnes manual). I loaded 5 each 21.5, 22, 22.5, 23, & 23.5 (which is what Barnes shows as max) at ~2.255" COL and am going to the range tomorrow to see which group the best and see if pressure signs will let me go any higher than 23.5gr (if accuracy is up high). I picked up a # of RL15 also in case my rifle doesn't like the H4895, so I may have to work those up as well depending on how the H4895 does tomorrow.
Will report back tomorrow after testing, maybe even some pic's.
