I like to spend time at the range, but shooting jacketed bullets through my .41 magnum gets old really quick. I usually shoot reduced velocity 215 grain lead SWC's over 15.5 grains of IMR-4227 or 6.7 grains of WW-231. Both loads chronograph 970 fps to 940 fps respectively. Very accurate and [leasant to shoot. Even using the minimum listed starting loads for jacketed bullets I find the loads to be too hot for my liking. I have 1000 Sierra 170 grain jacketed hollow points and 500+ Remington 210 grain jacketed flat points. Has anyone developed loads for these bullets that are accurate below the listed starting loads?

I consider this handgun overkill (pun intented) for self defense purposes with the jacketed loads. The lead loads are fine but the bullet won't expand.  I'd like to drive the 170 Sierra around 1100 to 1150 fps and the 210 Remington around 1050. Any suggestions. At these velocities recoil should be just fine and I won't have to worry about over penetration as much.
