You can get a .50 BMG upper for an AR if you have an AR pretty reasonable ($1200?). I got an Armalite a month or so ago for $2400 and really like it.
There are others available as whole guns like the Serbu BFG-50 for $2195. Hope this helps some.

Ditto on the Armalite AR-50. Great rifle at a good price. If you try to save a few hundred dollars by getting a cheaper rifle you will regret it.

consider a Hesse HBR-50 from www.joeken.com/50bmg.htm for $1199. there has much discussion and the only problem with the HBR-50 is the stock. so joeken offers better stocks on this $1199 standard model, than those offered directly through Hesse and others on their standard HBR-50 models. Joeken also offers a very fancy stock, and nice options for more money. Be prepared to wait a couple of months though on the special options. http://www.joeken.com/50mainblack.jpg

What problems are there with the Hesse .50BMG stocks? I just ordered one a couple of days ago and got the the standard model.

Thanks

supposedly delamination but it could just be anti-hesse sentiment. I have niether seen or heard first person of any problems, especially no problems about Hesse 50 guns from Joeken

I've got an AR50 and absolutely love it. The Serbu BFG50 is THE best gun for the money PERIOD! I've got a friend with one and it is a super gun and mark Serbu stands behind it 100%. He has no written warranty but if it breaks he fixes it. I can tell you more about that from personal experiance. The State Arms guns are pretty sweet for the money too. Klaus was killed in an auto accident about a year ago but I've only heard good stuff about the new owner. Watson Arms and Ferret both have good reputations for uppers for the AR15. The MMAG is due out soon. Designed by Serbu I think this will be an outstanding piece of work. If you are anywhere near Clarksville/Nashville you're welcome to shoot my Armalite and with a little planning we can get the Serbu gun there too.

Try a Hesse. I shot mine today and am very impressed. It is very accurate. I only shot it at 100 yards due to snow, but 3 shot clover leaf with Talon ammo. It was not Match ammo. Read my post on Ammo for Hesse.
