Anyone from FN on here?

I ordered ten rifles in November.  FN told my vendor the rifle is now discontinued then ghosted us. No response on alternatives.

Which rifle series were discontinued?

Ordered ten of the FN 15 Patrol SBR 14.5″ select-fire rifles.
My vendor said DD would custom build us eight similar rifles for the same price as the ten FN rifles.  I only need 8 rifles.  I ordered ten to have two extras so I guess no extras.

Great pics. Always cool seeing all the different optics guys end up running on their rifles out there, especially when they're not commonly seen.

I tried looking around for you, but no luck - they look to be sold out everywhere. I'm sure they'll be available again though.

Thanks. I should have picked one up earlier, at least I grabbed a few FDE 20rd mags. Maybe I’ll throw up a WTB ad and see if someone wants to offload one.

How's the PEQ/ATPIAL holding up on that rig? I've always wanted to mount one on my 17, but can't find the NAVSEA marked PEQ's on the market when I look.

As someone who just got a 20 I don’t think I’d get rid of that 17 for one. I don’t think I’d get rid of the 20 for a 17 either, so getting both is the only real option.

They'll only do another run if the demand is there - they've stated this several times.

By demand, I mean, like it'd have to be in the hundreds.

This is what I was told by Surefire.

Honestly, the only way we're ever going to see these cans again is if we all pester our dealers and call Surefire directly.

As much as I agree with you purely because I love hearing stories and opinions from professionals… I don't actually know how much more there is to say on the Mk17 that people haven't already tried to say a million times. Is it a next generation ultra amazing precision sniper rifle meant to take the head off a terrorist at 1800yds? No. Is it a crazy lightweight 5.56 carbine meant for door kicking and carrying 300rds of ammo? Not really.

It's just another tool in the toolbox and sometimes it's the right fit for the job at hand. Some jobs call for a 1/8" driver. Some jobs you need the 3/8". And then sometimes the 1/2" is the perfect fit ya know? Nothing more. Nothing less.

In terms of actual battle rifles, there wasn't a ton of selection out there when the SCAR came out, most everything was still kinda cold-war era stuff that lacked modern features we expect on stuff today. Having a lightweight 7.62x51 with pic rails, folding stock, suppressor, etc… that can accept all the optics/lights/lasers kit that everything else uses… seems like a good option to have. It's not perfect, but nothing ever is.

I don't normally watch his channel, but I felt they both did a pretty good job of explaining that and keeping it low-key. It has some practical use cases but it's not some wonder-weapon, nor was it ever intended to be. The thing I appreciated the most was that they both called out in the end that it's a "fun" gun which is my primary attraction to it. In terms of guns to own, it's something different and it's a lot of fun to shoot and it's cool that it has such historical significance and service life now.

I'm glad we adopted it because I'm all for our dudes having the right tools they need to do their job effectively. But I'm also glad they still have access to other tools like a 5.56 carbine or a 300WM scoped bolt rifle. I don't understand why people hate on it or try to make it out to be more than it was ever intended to be but… I've never had someone shoot mine that hasn't smiled afterwards (unless their thumb gets bit ).

People hate on it because of the price tag.

308 is a heavy round plain and simple and yeah I'm a battle rifle fan from the cold war rifles to the SR25's but I always loved the SCAR.

Here's a question...

Will the Surefire FA762SV flash hider fit/work with the newer SCAR 20S barrels - the ones without the step?

Older version with step in barrel:

Should be easy enough to solve with a re-profile and refinish. Then you have the best of both worlds, 1:10 and the clone correct look. I guess the other option would be to wait it out, if/when barrels are ever released I think you’ll be able to find deal on used 1:12 barrels.

That's a good point - certainly an option.

Hoping the price on the 20 starts coming down a bit more. Looks like it's slowly dropping. I don't mind paying $4,000 for one, but anything above that is just a bit hard to stomach at the moment.

I panic bought one a couple months ago and paid a bit under $4k all in. It’s a lot of money but I’ve wanted one since seeing the MK20 at SHOT show a few years back. In a perfect world I’d buy an original 1:12 for the clone correct SSR look, buy a 6.5 heavy profile 20” and cut the stock heavy 7.62 barrel down to 16” or 14.5” and lighten it as much as possible.

It's a lot of money but I've wanted one since seeing the MK20 at SHOT show a few years back. In a perfect world I'd buy an original 1:12 for the clone correct SSR look, buy a 6.5 heavy profile 20" and cut the stock heavy 7.62 barrel down to 16" or 14.5" and lighten it as much as possible.

That looks like it'll be a great shooter.

Hopefully I’ll find out next week. I’ve got a bunch of M118LR and some 185gr Berger’s to load up. I probably won’t try and stretch it’s legs too much until I get rid of the place holder scope.
