This dovetails in well with another thread, but it's for a separate gun.  

I want to cut a Remington Model 11 or Browning A5 12 gauge to make a reproduction Whipit as used by Bonnie and Clyde.  You can go to texashideout.tripod.com/guns.html for pictures.  (Cutting a BAR down, while interesting, would be waaaay too expensive.  Scroll down to see a pic of that.)

I want to know if cutting the barrel will affect the Model 11's / A5's function, and if so how to rectify the situation.  

I'd also like to know if it'd be more problematic to cut the barrel even shorter-- say down to 0.5" to 1" from the end of the magazine tube.

Like this? Mine is 18". It works great . I dont see any problem with a shorter barrel on a A5. Looks like U wanta 14" barrel. Go for it.
