I just bought a S&W 1911 E Series TA. I want to get a suppressor that I can disassemble myself for cleaning, I don't want to have to send it back to the manufacturer for cleaning. I heard that can cost several hundred to have done.
So far the only ones that I can find that I can do that is the YHM Cobra 2, and the AAC Tirant 45S. Between the two it looks like the YHM would have better suppression, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with these two, and could tell me the pros/cons of each. Or is there another suppressor out there that is better than both that I just haven't discovered yet.
Also, is it really worth it for me to have a suppressor I can disassemble myself, or should I go with the Osprey or Tirant? I want the suppression the the TiRant or Osprey gives, but I'd rather not have to send it in to get cleaned. Is it really as bad as I've heard to send in your suppressor for cleaning or is there some secret I haven't heard, like using a solvent and submersing the suppressor in it? Educate me on this.
Last question, which threaded barrel should I go with. I've always heard great things about Storm Lake barrels, but more recently I've heard good things about Jarvis barrels too. Anyone have any suggestions?
And yes I am sure I want to suppress my .45. I don't want to suppress my .22 quite yet. That is later down the road. Right now I just want suggestions for my .45.
