I paid under 800, tax and out the door 18 months ago.  That seems about right, they retail over a thousand.  You can buy three 10 round mags for the price of one "hi-cap" mag.  
I have a Blade-Tech kydex holster and double mag pouch.  It was the first one they made for a HK USP Tactical.  It is a cool accessory and functional as heck.  I think they are at www.bladetech.com

I recently bought a USP Tactical, and I checked numerous regional and internet dealers.  The lowest I found for a NIB was $849, but this dealer had several of these on  backorder.  Settled for 879 in stock.  There is a rumored price increase in Jan/Feb on HK guns, so your quoted price seems pretty reasonable.
